## Description

For those audiophiles who yearn for speakers with great looks as well as great sound, we’ve designed the JBL Loft Series. These speakers are slim, elegant audio components that range from compact bookshelf to robust tower speakers. One remarkably versatile set in the line is the Loft40. It’s a pair of thin bookshelf speakers that offer listeners a great option for setting up a two-channel stereo or multichannel surround-sound system. Each speaker in the set features a 5-1/4-inch (133-millimeter) PolyBass woofer with FreeFlow port technology for big, clear and extended bass, and a 1-inch (25-millimeter) soft dome tweeter that can reach frequencies as high as 20kHz. Each speaker’s tweeter features our proprietary Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide, which evenly distributes sound throughout your listening space and makes every seat the best seat in the house. The Loft40 speakers handle up to 125 watts and use a Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) design to help ensure that a strong, precise signal arrives at each driver with little alteration from its original source. And the speakers are beautiful to see, too. All in all, the Loft40s’ breathtaking sound will impress you as much as their stunning looks.

Review: I really impressed - I enjoy the sound that produces the Loft 40. I'm using a set for my surround back and another for the sides on my 7.1 system, connected to my Yamaha RX-V579 receiver, I have the Loft 50 towers in front and The loft 20 in the center. These speakers have everything, elegant, strong and clear sound. I love the highs never get overly sharp or bright compared to the competition, you can spend a full day listening to them and it does not cause fatigue. At first I had the loft 30 which I liked a lot, but I replaced them with the Loft 40. What a difference it fills my 15 x 12 room with aplomb. It really sounds like twice its price. I recommend the loft 40 for those who like the JBL sound without bulky speaker. Now my set up is complete and I love them all.
Review: Big sound in a small package. - It is easy to underestimate these speakers, because they are rather small. For over two years. I used them as rear surround speakers in my 5.1 setup. Recently, I decided to try them with a Pioneer Elite 2 channel receiver. This setup was to provide the audio for a 47” LG HDTV. I wasn’t expecting much, but was quite impressed. The highs did not come as a surprise, but the amount of bass did. Real nice full, crisp sound with enough bottom end to satisfy. Not wall shaking bass that comes with larger and bigger speakers, but enough to get the job done well. I am not going to try to sell hardcore audiophiles on these speakers, but I do think they will be a pleasant surprise for anyone looking to save some $$$ and needing a small speaker setup.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: It doesn't look like the rear of these accept threaded wall mounts..is there a enough recessed area for a banana plug, and will hang level?**
A: I'm looking at the back of mine, and yes they do accept threaded wall mounts. Yes, there is plenty of room for banana plugs or bare speaker wire connections. Presumably you would not have threaded mounts that keep the back of the speaker touching the wall, so yes, there's plenty of room. I recommend an articulated mount so that you can adjust to make sure the speaker is level. These speakers kick ass. I love mine. Perfect for home theater in a large living room. They fill our whole house with sound. Very accurate, and plenty of bass for stereo TV, but their treble is where they shine.

**Q: Are these speakers shielded?**
A: Yes. These speakers are magnetically shielded so that they can be placed right next to a TV if you want to, which I am doing without any issues. I would not have purchased them if JBL's website had not confirmed that they were magnetically shielded.

**Q: is there an advantage to using oxygen free copper speaker wire?**
A: theoretically yes , in the real world no . I do use oxygen free copper wire but only because it was cheap to buy .(Sewell oxygen free copper wire terminated with banana plugs)

**Q: What are the actual dimensions of these speakers?**
A: (H x W x D) is 10" x 6-1/2" x 7-1/2"
