Reverse Mortgage Dangers: The Pros, Cons, Downside and Disadvantages

This 'book' reads like a essay someone would do for a college class. It is very short and can be read in an evening. Mostly from the viewpoint of a man who would discourage us from getting a reverse mortgage, it never really promotes great benefits of reverse mortgages. There are many typographical errors that a spell checker would catch, so it was not carefully proofread before publishing. The information was useful enough, but it certainly is not worth the $6.97 price charged. I can get just as much info from free articles.

It would be a big mistake to base any decisions about a reverse mortgage entirely on the contents of this “book.” The author does perform a service to consumers by pointing out the potential pitfalls, but it’s just one point of view, and a rather biased one at that. Here’s the big red flag for me: The author himself says for the past five years he has focused all of his efforts on reverse home mortgages. He also says he is now comfortably retired, which would lead one to the conclusion that he financed his comfortable retirement by selling reverse mortgages to poor unsuspecting seniors. Something about that just doesn’t add up. In any case, all mortgages are designed to make money off of borrowers – generally speaking as much money as the lender can get. That’s the American way; that’s Capitalism. If you don’t want banks to make a profit off of you then don’t borrow money.

Interesting perspective and part of my "homework" in consideration of this option which I still intend to utilize.... Unfortunately the content examines many remotely possible scenarios, presenting them as likely - and is unprofessional in its treatment of the subject, language and grammar.Read it in that context and it has some value - but loses some credibility by its lack of professionalism.Having said all that, it is valuable to get as many perspectives as possible before making this significant commitment!

This book raises some good points that anyone should consider before committing to a reverse mortgage. It does not provide much of an explanation of how RMs work. Read it along with other, more comprehensive books to get a clear picture.

Written in a style that takes a complex subject and allows the reader to understand the subject.The author discusses various issues in away that simplifies the information. The title is an accuratedescription of the information content.

The info presented in the book was very informative and prevented me from making a bad purchase, i.e. buying a reverse mortgage.

Don't even think of getting a Reverse Mortgage before reading this valuable book. A must!
