Very orangey. Need quite a bit to flavour a cake, but a good price.

I'm a baker by trade and use many ingredients, I use this one in cakes, It's good but not that lemony it's kind of synthetic. So a good hack with this one is Lemon zest they both work very well together and give great flavour a touch of vanilla really pimps it up. I would recommend the product as you get a 500ml bottle quite cheaply if you do a lot of baking its one that should be in the cupboard!

I never leave bad reviews so it pains me to have to do so. I ran out of orange essence and my son wanted a chocolate orange cake for his birthday, I was being lazy and thought I'd cut corners by using an essence instead of grating oranges and making an orange sugar syrup, that was a big mistake! I've used the dr oetker orange essence before and found it really good but as I couldn't find it in my local supermarket and it was my sons birthday in 2 days I knew I needed to find something for next day delivery. I stumbled upon this and didn't read the reviews, again big mistake! I just looked at the star rating and assumed it was good. I used the whole bottle trying to get a hit of orange but that hit never appeared. A whole bottle in 1 cake and you literally can only taste the chocolate cake and butter icing even though I also put it in the icing. Luckily my son is easy to please and although disappointed it wasn't chocolate orange was still happy with the cake. When you buy a product you expect it to do what it says it does and this product does not and is an epic fail. Do not waste your money on this product! Positive note it did arrive next day as stated but that's the only positive
