It is well written and careful thought was given to the subject matter.

I just finished reading the hardback Gentleman's Edition. This is an excellent book, for at least three reasons (1) The advice on clothing is well written, sometimes humorous, and spot on; and (2) The advice concerns general principles rather than minutia about widths of lapels and depths of cuffs precise to one-eighth-inch increments (as so many others seem to lapse into); and (3) Most importantly, the author includes a well-thought-out philosophy that underpins his more specific thoughts on the clothing itself -- this alone is worth the cost of the book.I have read extensively on the topic of "old money," and have lived around it my entire life. In my opinion, Mr. Tully's new book is the best on the subject; consequently, I recommend the book without any hesitation whatsoever.For the record -- I have never met Mr. Tully. I just like his book!

Starting out with his original “Old Money Book”, I have managed to find nuggets of wisdom in his works that I continually treasure and apply.This recent installment has been a long-awaited and greatly appreciated extension of his “attire” section from the “Old Money Book”. It lends a guiding hand for practical wardrobe choices with a nod to the time-tested classics.I appreciate how the author took his time to explain a brief history of each item and then offered a prescriptive recommendation for those, like myself, who may need more concrete guidance.This is truly a value-based way of dressing that allows you to not only wear the uniform (such as the starting five), but exude those crystallized and refined qualities.

I had zero knowledge of style before reading this book. I now feel like I have a solid foundation to work with and, really, not more is needed for me than this book. Very helpful.

I recommend this book along with The Old Money Book. A gentleman dressed down will beat a jerk dressed up every day. It’s about the inside as well as the outside, but the true goal should be to achieve both. Get comfortable with the clothes, but more importantly move through life with ease and grace.

I'm especially grateful that Byron Tully wrote The Old Money Book.If you are interested in old money style or perfecting your old money look, this book nails it including all the subtle details. Author Byron Tully connects you to right pieces, in the right colors from the right suppliers.If you are a younger guy who is interested in building your first real wardrobe, you can't go wrong by following Byron's advice and recommendations. This style enables you to look proper and command respect wherever you go from Dallas, Washington DC, London and Paris.

What a disappointment to be honest. No real insight or anything worth the price of the book that a quick google search wouldn’t reveal. The images were terrible, cheap, and haphazard. He profiles cheap images of his friends, readers, etc none of them you’d aspire to look like trust me. He mentions a handful of retailers and gives an overview of each article of clothing he would suggest, but his descriptions are poor and offer little insight. You can get much better advice and insight in the blogs of ivy-style.com, saltwaternewengland.com, or oxfordclothbuttondown.com (all for free mind you) where in about 15 min walk away with better knowledge, more inspiration and a comprehensive list of retailers who specialize in the trad/ivy “old money” style. (I noticed the first review wasn’t a verified purchase, there’s no way someone’s giving 5 stars to this.

Mr. Tully is offers a good insight into the style of the OMG (Old Money Guy), I just wish he would flesh those ideas out a bit more.
