Thule RideAlong Child Seat (Discontinued Model)

This is the only seat I will ever recommend! By far the best one on the market. It reclines far enough for your baby to nap, has built in shocks, and is suitable for small babies through small children. My son started riding in this seat at 6 months old and he has always measured in the 10th percentile. I can not say enough great things about this seat. I have this installed on my beach cruiser. Worth the price and will fit on almost any bike. It locks on so you don't need to worry about theft. easily comes off with one button, can go from bike to bike with no install as long as you purchase an extra mount, fits on low saddle with adapter (i purchased separately) only seat out there with that option. Reclines at the touch of a button and the harness adjusts with one touch.

My saddle time has tripled since getting this seat, my 2.5 year old loves riding in it.I own the three major types of child carriers, a front mounted seat, a trailer, and now this rear seat. While all have their benefits, this Ridealong is the most convenient and my son's favorite.The front mounted one (Yepp Mini) is great but can really only be used on upright cruiser type bikes. While he enjoys riding it, I have to bow my knees outward to accommodate the seat. Though it's great for short rides, it wasn't satisfying my need for speed and exercise. While I don't use it much now, it definitely served its purpose when my son was younger; having him in front was nice to keep an eye on him.Then we got a trailer (InStep Quick N EZ). This was a step up to get more fitness intensity rides. And I definitely got a workout lugging it around. While I could now use my road and mountain bike for longer and faster rides, it was cumbersome pulling a trailer and I could only use it on paved trails. Also, no matter what time of day we'd ride, he would fall asleep within 10 minutes and I'd have to lay him down flat and unbuckled, which I never felt totally comfortable with. We don't use the trailer much anymore but it is nice to have as it easily converts into a stroller if we'll be out for extended periods of time.Then we decided to get a rear seat. I chose this seat because it reclines and based on my son's tendency to fall asleep in the trailer, I thought this would be a necessity. However, he has yet to fall asleep during a ride! I think the speed, being off the ground, and the variety of trails now available has been keeping him entertained. As my rides get longer, I'm sure we'll be using the reclining feature. If this isn't important to you, there are many cheaper alternatives.I also chose this seat because of the color. Most other manufacturers only offer the dull, boring gray. We have the orange one (zinnia). Not only is it one of my son's favorite colors, it offers great visibility.Another reason for choosing this particular seat is the way it mounts. I have a cyclocross bike with disc brakes and I didn't want to take a gamble with other manufacturers. It seemed it was hit or miss if the chain/seat stay mounted varieties would fit my particular bike. My bike also doesn't have any cables on the seat tube so it made my decision much easier.There are some very minor issues I have with the bike, none of which warrant anything less than a 5 star rating.1. I feel the springs could be a tad stiffer. It does allow for a comfortable ride on smooth surfaces, but it can get a little bouncy on anything more aggressive. My son seems to enjoy it, but it alters my handling a bit. There have been times when after a hitting a bump, the seat will reverberate if the frequency matches my cadence. I usually coast until it settles down.2. Due to the long lever arm of the springs, it does affect handling. Sometimes I feel the seat wagging like a tail. I'd assume the types that use the fender eyelets don't exhibit this as much.3. When riding solo, you're stuck with the mounting bracket on the seat tube. There's no way around this unless you want to take the whole thing off which is too time consuming. I like how the more conventional rear bike seats transform into a functional rack when not in use. It would be great if Thule came out with accessories that utilized the bracket when the seat is not in use...perhaps a rack, or lock or pump carrier.4. My biggest gripe was one that I fixed with a minor modification. The corner of the seat that's closest to the child's big toe, the most ventral part of the seat, would make contact with my hamstring on occasion. If the seat is reclined, that portion moves forward even more causing it to dig into my hamstring each stroke. To fix this issue, I drilled a tiny hole in each side, mounted a washer, and ran paracord through with cord locks on either side. I simply cinch the cord so the corners of the seat bow inward enough so it doesn't interfere with my pedaling. See attached picture.Overall, I'm very pleased with the seat. If you need the reclining option and/or you don't have fender eyelets (and your bike doesn't have cables down the seat tube), the Thule Ridealong is the best option. If you don't think you'll use the reclining feature and if your bike allows for conventional seats, perhaps a cheaper alternative would suffice.

Finally a kid seat where I don't feel like my butt is in my kid's face and I have a big butt! My son is four and he says this is comfy. He can 'do it himself' when it comes time to buckle but it takes adult hands to unbuckle. I love that the seat floats freely off the back of the bike so that the little rider is bouncing lightly, not feeling jolted by the bumps. I will say that it took some getting used to. At first having this seat on the back changed the center of gravity of my ride stability and it felt like each time my kiddo threw his arms or head around my bike was going to jerk into traffic, so I recommend practicing riding with the new seat in a relatively low traffic area until you feel stable on it. It's worth getting used to. It locks up safely so you're not worried about someone snagging the seat and I love the feet clips. My son was afraid to ride until we got this, now he says he feels safe.

Totally enamored with our new Thule seat! It's an amazing seat, full of functionality and my toddler loves it. I upgraded from the basic Bell rack-mounted seat, and wished I had purchased this originally. My only reason for four stars instead of five is that this year's model included the older-style mounting bracket and moving the seat from one bike to the other requires two people instead of one to get it to release from the bracket. I purchased a second mounting bracket for my husbands bike, which is the newer model, and it's much easier for one person to remove the seat when needed. From what I've read, the seat is identical from the 2016 model to the 2017, the only change was the mounting bracket... The seat fits in either 2016 or 2017 bracket, but the 2017 bracket installs easier and releases the seat easier too. My only other challenge is that my step-through bike seat frame includes a welded brake cable guide which I had to remove with an angle grinder to get the bracket to fit without rotating side-to-side. Overall a great seat, I just wished I'd found a better solution other than an angle-grinder for installing the post bracket.Overall a GREAT seat, and I am happy with it!Update: our son is now 4 1/2 years old and we still use this seat frequently! He weighs 38 pounds and his knees are just barely starting to touch my rear end when we ride. We've gotten so much use out of this!

When looking for a bike seat we had a few things in mind, we wanted a seat with a good price, lightweight, easy installation and obviously one that our 15 month old son would love. I looked long and hard on Amazon and found the Thule RideAlong Child Bike Seat and boy am I glad we bought it. It's lightweight and fits great on our specialized road bikes.Our son loves to look around and be close to mom or dad. I knew that we couldn't get one of the attachments that goes behind the bike, we would be trying to calm his tears down the whole ride. This child bike seat is perfect if your kid wants to be big like mom and dad.

It's a bit bulky, not as slim and nice as expected. Also it arrived with the wrong color.

Der Fahrradsitz wurde uns im Rahmen eines Testes zur Verfügung gestellt.Wir sind keine Mitarbeiter von Thule, wurden nicht für eine positive Rezension bezahlt und ich gebe grundsätzlich nur meine persönliche Meinung zu den entsprechenden Produkten wieder.Wir haben den Sitz mit 3 Kindern im Alter von 3 bis 6 Jahren (13kg, 22kg, 20kg) ausgiebig getestet.Ansässig sind wir in ländlichem bergigen Gelände, haben landwirtschaftlich genutzte und verschmutzte Straßen und Kopfsteinpflaster in der Innenstadt. Also alles in allem war ein umfassender Test des Sitzes möglich.Sitzmontage:Zur Montage des Sitzes sollte die Bedienungsanleitung zwingend zur Hand genommen werden, da bei einem rein intuitiven Zusammenbau wichtige Sicherheitspunkte wie z.B. Abstand des Sitzes zur Radnabe und zum Gepäckträger unbewusst nicht beachtet werden.Außerdem ist die Montage ohne Anleitung doch zeitaufwändiger und mit Fehlern behaftet.Sitzeinstellung:Durch die Schnellverschlüsse ist eine Höhenverstellung des 3-Punkt-Gurtes sowie der Fußablagen sehr schnell und unkompliziert zu erledigen.Anpassungen von kleinen zu größeren Kindern lassen sich ohne Probleme und zügig erledigen, auch wenn keine helfende dritte Hand zur Verfügung steht.Z.B. ist die Längenanpassung der Schultergurte durch die blauen Gurtversteller mit je einem Handgriff erledigt.Leider ist gerade für kleinere Kinder das Gurtschloss sehr weit vorne und entsprechend Luft zwischen den Gurten und dem Körper.Qualität:Der Sitz macht auf den ersten und zweiten Blick einen stabilen Eindruck. Die Sitzschale bleibt auch mit Belastung (Kind) formstabil.Die Federung des Sitzes ist nicht zu hart und nicht zu weich, egal ob mit Mindest- oder Maximalgewicht belastet. Harte Schläge werden abgefedert, allerdings geht bei einem Rad ohne Rahmenfederung wesentlich mehr durch zum Kind und dieses wippt schlimmstenfalls wie auf einer Schleuder befestigt.Fahrempfinden:Unsere Töchter fühlen sich sehr wohl in dem Sitz. Auch 1-2 stündige Fahrten werden dank Sitz- und Gurtpolsterung ohne Klagen absolviert.Trotzdem der Sitz bei unserem Damen-Tourenrad aufgrund der sehr hohen Mittelstange recht hoch über dem Gepäckträger montiert werden muss, stört der hohe Schwerpunkt bei normaler Fahrweise nicht. Einzig Steigungen und kraftvolles Bergaufradeln im Stehen werden durch den übermäßig hohen Schwerpunkt und hierdurch geförderte Pendelbewegungen des Sitzes unkomfortabel bis unmöglich. Dieses wurde auch durch lautstarke Kommentare aus der 2. Reihe bestätigt.Auf- und Absteigen wird bei uns durch die überhöhte Anbringung des Sitzes (10cm über Gepäckträger) zusätzlich erschwert.Aber selbst bei optimaler Anbringung des Sitzes von mind. 4cm oberhalb des Gepäckträgers bleibt es eine akrobatische Herausforderung mit einem Heck-Fahrradsitz elegant vom Fahrrad abzusteigen.Fazit:Zu unserer Überraschung ist der Sitz ist tatsächlich von unserer Tochter mit 6 Jahren und zugelassenem Höchstgewicht noch ohne Beeinträchtigung nutzbar und sie kann sogar mit ihren 1,20m ihren Kopf noch anlehnen.Spitze ist die Idee von Thule den Sitz mit einem Ersatzschloss auszuliefern, damit der Sitz auch an einem zweiten Fahrrad ohne größere Umstände genutzt werden kann.Als Verbesserung würden wir folgende Punkte vorschlagen:- Die Bedienungsanleitung sollte nach Sprache aufgegliedert werden.- Im oberen Bereich dürfte gerne statt eines Halters für einen Rückstrahler ein Reflektorband angebracht werden.- Statt des 3-Punkt-Gurtes wäre es schön - gerade da dieser Sitz ab 9 Monaten freigegeben ist - einen 5-Punkt-Gurt anzubringen, alternativ jedoch zumindest eine Verschiebemöglichkeit des Gurtschlosses.- Eine Schutzhaube für den Sitz wäre eine schöne Zusatzausstattung.

Ich schreibe wenige Reviews, doch hier muss es einfach sein, denn der Kindersitz ist einfach nur eines ... Perfekt.Lieferung gewohnt schnell. Die Montage schien bei meinem „custome made“ Mountain Bike heikel zu werde, entpuppte sich aber als relativ einfach. Nach hinten trägt der Anschraubhalter wenig auf und passt zwischen Gangschaltungzug und Sattelholm. Der Sitzbügel ist hoch genug. Lediglich der Schnellspann-Gepäckträger mußte weichen. Passt. Entweder Kind oder Tourengepäcß. Beides Gleichzeitig war nie vorgesehen. Fahrkomfort ist gut. Die zusätzliche Last fällt kaum auf. Nur bei einer Rückartigen Lenkbewegung wurde man dezent daran erinnert, das lebende Fracht dabei ist.Morgen versuche ich den zweiten Montageständer am Hollandrad meiner Frau zu instsllieren. Ich bin optimistisch.Die Verarbeitung ist thule bewährt gut. Sitzposition, Fußhalter und 3-Punkt Gurt lassen sich präzise einstellen. Mein Tochter (25 Monate) ist begeistert ... Papa auch.

Lo que viene a ser la silla es fantastica, el niño va superbien acoplado y con muvha sensacion de seguridad...la parte negativa es que hay que tener cuidado con la bici rn la que la vas a montar, si el tubo donde va metido el sillin es cortito no te va a valer, ademas por ahi suelen pasar los cables del desviador de plato y va muy justo....de hecho en la bici que la iba a poner inicialmente no cabia. Por otro lado me ha tardado mas tiempo de la cuenta, el plazo de entrega se lo han saltado a la torera...muy mal amazon que me mando un correo diciendo que se retrasaba y me daba otra fecha....y volvio a retrasarse, y eso que pago por lo de Amazon Premium.
