We can get down with technical rainshells, but sometimes simple is supreme. Because when you're transitioning from cityscape to mountainside scouting out boulders, you've got enough to plan for. And having one jacket in your pack that can handle it all⏤that's one less problem you have to tick.

Good, but…
This definitely keeps the water out! I did buy it because I wanted a breathable rain jacket for hiking. It also helps that it’s pretty dang lightweight. However, It might be a bit too breathable! If it’s windy, or getting colder (like the last time I was camping it hailed on us) it gets pretty cold, and tends to stick to your shoulders making them cold too. Thinking of buying a different jacket for when there is wind and snow/rain/hail. This jacket is great for spring/summer rains though and I will definitely still use it for that.
