Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset
This book is all about two types of mindsets that is fixed mindset and Growth mindset. According to author since people with fixed mindset believe in inherited talent therefore doesnโt put extra effort in improving themselves . They believe that intelligence is fixed and it canโt be increased. Not only that fixed mindset people think that they are superior than the other ordinary people because they have special talent in their field. In contrast Growth mindset people believe that ordinary people can become extra ordinary through hard work, good strategies and effort. They believe that intelligence and skill are not fixed it can be improved through learning and practice . As they grow their intelligence or skills they become more and more humble. They take the feedback and criticism positively and work hard on their own weaknesses. When fixed mindset people fail they blame others or external factors but when growth mindset people fail they donโt blame others instead they work on the internal factors which can be improved by himself. These two mindset people can be seen across the field whether be sports, business, relationship or education and everywhere outcome is same.People with fixed mindset fail to recover once they lose or face humiliation because they believed they were superior naturally. But people with growth mindset does not break when they fail because they believed in hard work and effort which can be improved. Therefore such people develop the ability to bounce back through effort and can stay at the top for long time. To stay at the top they even work harder than before. At the end author tells how to become a growth mindset person.Overall this is a wonderful book and worth reading for everyone.

Stressed the importance of efforts in achieving greatness.
Author delineates two mindsets: fixed mindset and growth mindset.People with fixed mindset believe that talent is innate and nothing can be done about it. Either youโre born talented or not. They donโt believe in efforts. These people in position of some talent think theyโre special and they are more entitled than others. These people believe in their superiority to others as they have got the talent that others are not special enough to have. Author provides examples in business, sports, relationships and other walk of life of people who seem to have had this mindset and the havoc they wrecked by putting their pride ahead of the collective benefit. There is another category and that is Growth mindset. Growth mindset people believe that efforts are the key to success. Author provides examples of people with this. People like Michael Jordan, Tiger Wood put lots of effort in improving and learning that they became extraordinarily good and that their success to others seem effortless. These people including Tolstoy, Darwin at their initial stage were not ferreted out as great or special but they worked hard to achieve their greatness. One good piece of knowledge is that relationships require efforts to make it work and one should not think that a relationship is ill-suited just because it requires efforts as people usually think that an ideal relationship is something that requires no efforts at all.Author submits that brain is like a muscle and that the brain can be improved through efforts. Author discusses about the effects of praise and believes that children ought to be appreciated for the efforts they put in achieving a feat and not for their so-called innate ability. The book boils everything down to mindset and tries, I guess, to be revelationary. But, this is just one framework to make sense of the surrounding. When one looks at the surrounding with this mindset-frame, everything can be represented and reduced to mindset. The surrounding is not inherently or ontologically mindset but made representationally. There could be other framework with some other quality and could be just made as good as this mindset framework.I read this book because Bill Gates recommends it. There is good things/advice in this book. But, I donโt see why this book deserves far more recognition than other books of same kind.

Loved this
A really motivating and practical read. The book does a great job of explaining the difference between a fixed and growth mindset, and it gives clear examples of how to apply the concepts in everyday life. The advice feels actionable rather than just theoretical, which makes it easy to start making changes straight away.Itโs inspiring without being overbearing, and it genuinely makes you think about how you approach challenges and learning. Definitely a book that can help you unlock your potential if you take the lessons to heart.

The book we should all read.
It's tough to imagine a book that could have a more profound impact upon a person's self-perception than Mindset, it is a truly phenomenal work that is both easy to read and packed with in-depth research and justifications for the author's hypothesis on learning and development. The book shelf for self-help/useful psychology is incredibly bloated and it always seems like the next book has more ringing praise than the last and, whilst I've read some excellent books on clinical psychology that are peerless, this will always be the book that I remember most fondly for changing my *own* mindset to one where failure was a necessary bump in the road to success, and not an irreversible breakdown. Bear in mind, this isn't a book that will simply inform you, it's a book that will actively change you.The core concept that Dweck puts across is that humans generally fall into two types of mindset when it comes to achievement, success, learning and ability; the growth mindset and the fixed mindset.Quintessentially the growth mindset is the "Practice makes perfect"/"Try, try and try again"/"Back in the saddle" school of thought whereas the fixed mindset is typically the "I've either got a knack for it or I haven't"/"Talent is born, not developed"/"If I need to practice then I can't be that good".Needless to say in the pages within Dweck tries to detach people from a fixed mindset and steer them towards the growth version, giving plenty of real life and 'laboratory' examples of her conceptions and why they do, and should, matter to us.This is not just a book aimed at children either, we should never stop growing as people and everyone from students to seasoned academics or established athletes to those just joining an MMA club will find much to mull after reading this. The only gripe I had when reading was the author's irritating habit of stuffing politics, particularly gender politics, into her extrapolations about different peoples attitudes to learning and the impact this has on the academic, corporate and political world. With this being Dweck's life's work as a psychologist I would have preferred she keep her political conjugating to herself to instead focus on the fascinating subject matter, she is free of course to release numerous other books covering such other topics as she so wishes. In summary, if you want to be convinced (within reason) that 'Effort is what creates success' then buy this book immediately.
