Kinkajou Separation Ties

Let me start by saying that I love the bottle cutting system and have had grat success with it. I've literally cut hundreds of bottles with great success, but using the old style blue separation rings. After so much use they finally gave out. I found that they were replaced by these zip tie things. After much deliberation I ordered some and waited in anticipation.Unfortunately these are subpar in comparison to the old ones. The blue ones had 100% contact with the bottle thereby letting no water escape the trough. The zip tie ones only have about 95% contact letting water escape and causing vertical cracks up and down the bottle. UNSAT.The only solution I found was by heating and cooling once then rotating the zip ties 90 degrees and then repeating until you have seperation. Bye moving the gap area you don't continue to let the hot and cold water escape the trough in the same location crating an inadvertent crack.I am current looking for a suitable replacement.

Love the idea of these, but the design is flawed. Water seeps through where the 2 sides of the tie attaches and allows cracks to form in the glass where they shouldn't. I wish the tie would lie flush against the glass instead of allowing that small gap when tightened.

The original bands work better. This splits where the gap between the band and glass is. You must be really careful not to pour water near the gap and pray it splits right. I do a really small stream of hot water followed by a really small stream of cold.They charge way too much for shipping. Shipping on Amazon is cheaper than going through their website.Buying replacement parts is starting to add up. My next purchase will be a wet saw and I recommend you get one too.

The original bands work better these leave a little gap where the zipper mechanism is leaving about a 25% chance of a crack right at that spot. I would buy multiple sizes of the old band style

Bought them to replace parts for the Kinkajou bottle cutting system, which provides some tight rubber rings that require the Incedible Hulk to squeeze them over the bottles. Regardless, I found the entire bottle cutting system to be junk--and that was after trying the separation ties and various techniques to make wine bottles cut efficiently and simply. DOES NOT WORK WELL.

Stays on the glass but hard to work with.
