Raffia crochet true to size with hook required.
I was surprised how sturdy this raffia is. I am making a summer hat and I am using the required hook as noted in the pattern. It is true to size. Inch and row measurements. It is a little rough on my fingers but after all it is not soft yarn.

Tough and hard to work with
This was good product, must have experienced with crocheting when using this yarn, its kind of tough and hard to work with. I used a 4.5mm crochet hook to accomplish the sun hat bucket hat ( pattern is not mine) i did have some sore hands arms and shoulder though when I finished my hat. Its a nice sturdy yarn good for summer

Nice material
I crochet with acrylic and cotton the most, I’ve never used this type of material, but wanted to start making sun hats with my other crocheted items. It’s nice material and I’m happy with how the sunhat turned out.

LOVE THIS RAFFIA!
I’ve been on the hunt for a good raffia for summer hats. I’m an advanced crocheter, but I’ve had a hard time with the flat raffia. I tried a TON. This one is twisted to more resemble regular yarn, and instead of worrying what the flat part is doing, i can just count my stitches and get moving. The stitches are nice and regular, if you prefer that kind of thing (and I do). I LOVE IT!Raffia is a little harder on the fingers than regular yarn, so I’m using a bandaid on one of my fingers for now, but have a silicon thimble on the way.The cord is about 2mm thick. It is really soft and flexible. So far I can tell this is going to be a hat i just throw in my suitcase and not worry about crushing. I’m still on the crown, but my guess is if i do my increases properly, the brim will not flop around. It’s soft but has some body. I’m a traditionalist, so chose the natural color, but there is a wide variety of colors for any taste. I rated five stars for durability because I had a few stops and starts where I had to rip out a bunch of stitches, but when worked again they had no weakness and you can’t tell where they were (hard to do with the flat/tape like raffia).I’m doing this one as a wild brim, but am already thinking ahead of the visor I’m going to make for when my hair is in a bun on top of my head.I stopped in the middle of my project to write this review because I had almost given up on raffia altogether. Then I found this. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Happy hatting!(The picture above shows my crown in progress. I’m using a 3.5mm hook, which seems to be a good size. Not too big for the material, but big enough to work up quickly.)

My Fedora hat came out great.
I was happy with using this raffia for my first fedora hat. It was not as easy as working with regular yarn but not as bad as I expected. Raffia was flexible enough, no breakage and it shaped nicely at the end with some steaming an ironing. Crocheting just went alittle slower than regular yarn. I will buy some more of this as my sister wants me to make her a hat also.

Already disappointed.
I ordered four spools. Two arrived today. One spool is noticibly larger than the other, leaving me to wonder if it is really 306 yards. I'll try to use them for my intended project. Based on appearance, they don't seem to be worth the price. In addition, the purple color cost more than the Brown.

Here are some Tips for this Yarn
I used this to crochet a hat and it came out great. It is stiff and hard to work with as it comes off the roll, but I discovered that if I wet it and work with it wet, it is a LOT easier to crochet. You can make tighter more even stitches, and its easier on your hands. I just dunked the spool in warm water for a minute each time before I worked with it. It dries pretty quickly, and getting wet doesn't seem to harm the yarn. There was plenty on one spool to make a brimmed sun hat with quite a bit left over. Excellent value. I gave it four stars rather than five because the colors in the listing photos are not the same as the yarn. I first ordered 'buckwheat' and it was light yellow, not tan, so I sent it back and got the brown, which is a pretty warm tan color.

Love the color
This is very thin raffia. It is my first time using raffia so I am still learning and have heard it is difficult to work with. So far I have not had to much trouble. I will say raffia yarn will not let you take out wrong stickers.

beautiful colors
I appreciate the quick reply. Cons: smaller than I thought. Brown is 40.00, why I don't know. The rest range from 14 to 21. Pros; the colors are beautiful. Feel nice.
