Dyna-Glo IR12PMDG-1 12,000 BTU Liquid Propane Infrared Vent Free Wall Heater

I just received this heater and had it installed a few days ago ( the hardware needed to install wall bracket was not in the box but several bucks at my local hardware store took care of the parts i purchased needed to install the bracket) at first the heater worked great. The problem began after the heater was turned off. When going to turn it back on several hours later the pilot light kept going off as soon as i started turning the dial towards the low setting. The first time it did this was the following morning after installation. It took several times getting the heater to come on after having to relight the pilot light before each attempt. It worked fine after getting the heater on but the very same thing happened early this morning (Only Having The Heater For 2 Days). Having to go thru the ritual of lighting and relighting the pilot light after trying to turn heater on....Extremely frustrated and very disappointed in this heater and the purchase.

Does the job. Like being able to have it on low or high. Purchased the additional fan to go with it. Don't like the switch for the fan being located behind the unit where it's very hard to reach - even with my small fingers. Someone with larger hands could not reach the switch for the fan.

The heater came with a screw missing on the gas regulator, a kinked gas line from the regulator to the valve, and a broken mount (only one of the two mounting screws had been put in, and that single mounting screw had broken a hold in the back of the regulator). As a result, gas pours out of it in 3 places it shouldn't. The blurry photo shows where the mount was broken, leaving a big hole for gas to pour through.

Bought three of these for a house renovation. Two of the units were as described and worked very well. One of the units, however, had been scavenged for parts and the regulator inlet port had stripped threads. Unfortunately it was nine months before I opened the boxes to mount the heaters so I had to adapt and make/buy necessary parts to make it work.

I have been running this heater for a couple years now. I have not had any problems. Easy to install and it kicks out lots of heat without a great deal of cost. I run it 24/7 and it heats a much larger area than advertised for slightly less than $100 a month. I really don’t turn on our main heater, because this one is more efficient. By the way, I run it at 50% capacity most of the time. I am heating about 800 well insulated square feet, that includes a loft of about 300 square feet, open floor plan with an outdoor temperature running between 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit this winter.

I’m quite disappointed with this product actually, only because it is not economical at all. On the lowest setting it will burn through a 100lb tank in just over 2 weeks. On the plus side, this would be great for small spaces that didn’t need consistent heating. The heater is small and gives off great heat, just not a very good product if you are looking for an economical long term heating solution.

I really like this. It is easy to install. I have it primarily to heat 1 room - the one I am in the most. I like the radiant heat. It is the first experience I have with that and was unsure I was making the right choice. But for the smaller area, it was the right choice.

It does not have a thermostat. It either on or off.
