Have you been trying to learn Turkish and simply can’t find the way to expand your vocabulary? Do your teachers recommend you boring textbooks and complicated stories that you don’t really understand? Are you looking for a way to learn the language quicker without taking shortcuts? If you answered “Yes!” to at least one of those previous questions, then this book is for you! We’ve compiled the 2000 Most Common Words in Turkish, a list of terms that will expand your vocabulary to levels previously unseen. Did you know that — according to an important study — learning the top two thousand (2000) most frequently used words will enable you to understand up to 84% of all non-fiction and 86.1% of fiction literature and 92.7% of oral speech? Those are amazing stats, and this book will take you even further than those numbers! In this book: A detailed introduction with tips and tricks on how to improve your learning A list of 2000 of the most common words in Turkish and their translations An example sentence for each word – in both Turkish and English Finally, a conclusion to make sure you’ve learned and supply you with a final list of tips Don’t look any further, we’ve got what you need right here! In fact, we’re ready to turn you into a Turkish speaker… are you ready to become one? Review: ‘Doyuncaya kadar yedim’ – ‘I ate until I was full’ - Once again Lingo Mastery has come to the rescue, allowing us to make Turkish more accessible to a wider population. In the Introductory Note the goal is stated well: ‘Have you ever heard of Turkish being one of the most complicated languages in the world? Well, we’re not going to tell you it isn’t – we’re just offering a fun and efficient way to expand your vocabulary. We believe that learning a language should be associated with the pleasure of rewarding mental activity and the joy of discovering another culture rather than with the stress inherent to endless grammar drills…We know that the Turkish alphabet has given many learners a hard time. We came up with a special way of transcribing words for you – the transcription is free form complicated signs in an Oxford dictionary style. It’s a combination of transliteration and conventional signs for transcription...’ After their success teaching Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese, now they turn to teaching Turkish! And it works. To make the Turkish alphabet accessible, transcriptions are provided in the form of transliteration and conventional signs used for transcription. The grammar notes are particularly successful in simplifying the complexities of this language. Example: kisa (adjective) ‘short’ – ‘Kusa bir hikaye yazdum’ = ‘I wrote a short story’. Taking it slowly, step by step with practice, Turkish words become accessible! And one of the very successful features of this book is the depth of discussion about the symbols, grammar, and English phonology of words – a feature that makes this a quality textbook! The technique is solid and the lessons well taught. This is a very fine introduction to Turkish vocabulary that may arise when you visit Turkey or simply conversing and understand the Turkish population here at home. This book is appropriate for all age levels, and a book much needed at this time in our national status! Grady Harp, June 20 Review: Good resource but not quite for beginners - LingoMastery is good about providing language learning materials for a variety of languages and it's great to see Turkish in their collection. This book contains the most common words with example sentences. I have one issue: A lot of the example sentences are too complicated, especially at the beginning. As a result, this serves as a nice frequency dictionary with examples, but it is not so handy if you decide, eg, that you want to work on the twenty most common words: If you're just beginning, you will have nothing like the knowledge required to read the examples. Otherwise, for the price and content this is a great resource to have on your Kindle.

You can gain from this book, the vocabulary that is essential to learnıng a good level of turkısh , the grammar however in turkish is way different from the english spelling so to know the language you will need to learn grammar from another source

Wish it was better planned.
This book is good to know many words and I love the fact they use each word in a sentence BUT it is not alphabetical and the words are all started in Turkish so trying to find what you are looking for is nearly impossible.

Great Language Learning book.
I have several of these books in various languages I am learning. This book is one of the best for learning the Turkish language. Very detailed and easy to learn. Teaches you the Turkish Alphabet and sentences to help you get use to seeing, writing, and speaking the Turkish language.

Disorganized, why is “New York” included?
It appears that little to no thought was put into the order that the “most common” words are arranged in. For example, “city hall” is word number 161, but the verb “to learn” is number 1527, and the word “friend” is number 1343. There are also several instances of a conjugated or advanced grammatical construction of a verb coming before the verb in the infinitive. Aside from the order of the content, I have a problem with some of the content itself. For example, why is “New York” included in this list of the 2000 most common Turkish words? It also seems unnecessary to include Turkish names of people and other Turkish cities as those are usually self explanatory. Because of the repetitiveness and inclusion of several different forms of the same word, I would guess it’s more accurate that this book includes around 500 unique words. On a positive note, I did appreciate the example sentences as it helped put the words in context.

I speak Turkish and Russian and wanted to order this to teach my kids.
I speak Turkish and Russian and wanted to order this to teach my kids. It is an excellent companion to the book Turkish Delights. The font is very large and, therefore, today I ordered a similar book by Lingo Mastery for Russian also. Thanks!

A welcome lexicon with examples
I am grateful this lexicon has been given to me for examination. I thought it is very useful for advanced beginners of the language to get very good additionnal examples of vocabulary workds in context, which is a lot better than only isolated word lists. Besides, you are sure to find the most high frequency words listed. A must have for any serious learner.
