Pretty good starter set
The only issue I personally had with this said, is the driver 90% of players just starting out are not going to be able to throw an 11 speed disc and get it to perform as expected. However, the rune and axe are absolutely perfect for starter. I’ve only been playing for about a month now. This is my first starter set until now are used other peoples disks. The material is more than acceptable for what you expect to get from a starter set. the rune flys straight as an arrow. The axe has a solid bead on the backend. With just a short time practicing I found with these discs worked exactly as intended. again the major issue is the driver no way in hell a beginner is going to be able to spin a 11 speed disc. The price on this set fantastic who’s gonna be able to be 24 dollars.

Great discs
The driver is hard to throw for a beginner but the midrange and putter are fantastic both fly straight as a arrow with very little fade and the putter really sticks to the chains

Good starter
Love the mid range and putter. The driver... Lasted a while until it thumped a few tries and got deformed.

Great starter set
Rune is a pro quality putter. Axe is a is a very capable mid range and the Ragnarok is one of the easiest drivers for a beginner arm to throw. Base plastic is comparable in quality to the Dynamic Discs starter set using base plastic. Will last for a bit but will get beat in fast if hitting a lot of trees.

Good value, it’ll get you on the course.
So, the rune and the axe are great to work with. That ragnarok though. I don’t have the strength to throw it correctly. Then again, no one in my circle can. But I’ll get there. The others are good, and eventually I’ll be able to use all of them. Well worth the cost.

Quality starter set
As far as starter sets go and for introducing someone new to disc golf, I would say the Viking set is a good place to beginners. I like the brand, the names are very thematic and the company is cool (I've gone on to purchase more discs in their premium plastics), however the Ragnarok and Axe will not hold up for long. I think Viking has better base plastics than say Innova DX (I have purchased their starter set and those discs lasted even less time), but throwing a distance driver and a mid range in the trees will beat them up quickly. After a couple of months of use, my Ragnarok got pretty warped from hitting trees. The Axe is in ok shape but it has phased out of my bag for other slots. The Rune however is still going strong. I recommend the Rune as a Putting Putter, it flies straight, has plenty of glide and I even aced with it once. However, if you want to putt with a rune, go find a stack of them for $60 rather than buying this starter set to obtain one.

First attempt, looking for improvement in the future.
In this starter:Ragnarok: which is an 11 speed, which is not recommended for new players, but the Intermediate players would find it usable.Axe: which is a 4 speed that is slightly overstable. One of my favorites right now. Good for new players.Rune: which is a straight flying putter (if thrown straight). Also a favorite of mine. The GROUND plastic: is a softer plastic (some other adjectives used: Gummy, Tacky, Rubbery). I think this plastic gets the disc close to their mold Flight Numbers.**If you want a firmer feel, check out their Armor or Storm plastics.**Summary: Viking Disc is relatively new to the scene and they do not have a wide selection of discs yet, so this set is not a great choice, at this time, for someone new since they will only have 2 usable discs for a while. I do have good expectations for this company in the future, and hope to see in their next iteration a more well rounded options included.

While I like Viking discs, I wouldn't recommend this as someone's first disc set.
This was my first "starter set", and I do like the Viking line, but I think Viking could bundle some different discs as a beginner set.First this is in the base plastic called "ground plastic". It is very grippy and is good in wet conditions like morning dew or rain but I tend to grip lock these discs due to their grippyness. Also the ground plastic is harder to wipe dirt off of compared to other plastics. As for Viking's disc selection for this bundle: the colors are too dark for discs to be easily located. Black and dark blue?!The Rune putter is a good putter, slow and stable. But the black color make it hard to locate. The Axe midrange has a speed rating of 4 which most manufacturers would call a putt and approach disc. Which is what I actually use it for. It is a good, stable disc to use for long putts. The Ragnarok has a speed rating of 11 which is really too fast for beginners. Viking's Cosmos fairway driver would be a better choice for beginners. I had a lot of trouble throwing the Ragnarok at first but after a lot of practice it is now my favorite distance driver. In general, Viking doesn't offer a very diverse line of discs, concentrating more on distance drivers.

Good discs though the driver has a high glide and low weight, may require a little practice to use.
These are a little softer/flexible plastic so should take a beating from newbie throws and stay in one piece. Some of the other sets with a more rigid plastic can shatter. I don't get the impression these will stay in one piece even if they hit the odd tree.
