PowerBar Energize Original – ‘The Original’ Energy Bar for Endurance & Team Sports Athletes – Fueling Champions for 30+ years: 25 x 55g Bars - Chocolate

This is from my husband who loves the chocolate flavor: "I do agree about the negative side of carbohydrate marketing, so one should eat this product with care, yet as a technologist I have found this product a great brain food, it helps me tremendously with the mental challenges of my work."

The original Powerbars were the only things I have ever found that I could eat when exercising for a long time (e.g., 70-100 mile bike rides) that did not cause, ahem, intestinal distress. I suppose it was because they were simple and easy to digest (although hard to chew when cold!)Most importantly, these new versions are easily digestible just like the old ones. And at least for the cookies/cream flavor (they only one I've tried), they taste about the same. They do have a different, grainier texture that is easier to chew but sucks up more water/saliva from your mouth. It makes it harder for me to eat while still cycling than the old ones, but easier to eat if I am stopped and taking a break.Bottom line: as I see it, they are just as good as the old ones with some differences that are both better and worse.

I'm so glad to find these on amazon, I couldn't even find them through the manufacturer. I first tried these in 1988 during a cross country bicycle trip. I was surprised that these always helped to perk me up and give me some extra ooomph when I was flagging, At first I thought they tasted weird, but I started to really like them after a while. The berry is, I think the best flavor, followed by chocolate and chocolate peanut butter. They are super satisfying, I love the gumminess and chewiness. Always have a glass of water with these, they work much better with water. They also have no chocolate or other coating, so even after melting, being squashed into crowded bike bags, fanny packs, back pockets, backpacks, and car glove compartments in summer, they are totally edible. They have a lot of nutrient for a lightweight bar, and due to the chewiness, they last a lot longer than other bars, which makes them really satisfying, I'll keep buying them as long as they keep selling them!

I ordered the original variety power bars, and while these bars are similar to the original, tough, sticky, chewy, dense bar with the crispies in it... they just aren't quite right. I'm not sure how to describe it. First, they aren't quite as large as the real original. I remember them being sweet, but not this sweet, if that makes sense? The texture isn't quite the same. They aren't quite as dense as the original.However, my husband recently got out of the army and was telling me about the MREs (meals ready to eat) and he decided to order a box and show me what they're like. One of the MREs had a chocolate "First Strike Energy Bar" which is basically the military version of the og power bar. They were so good!! They also had a cinnamon apple energy bar that was delicious. I attempted to look for just those Energy bars and found out you can actually purchase the First Strike Energy bars through online vendors. I'm probably going to purchase some of those military energy bars from now on since I was kinda underwhelmed by these original power bars. Nice try power bar. I miss some of your real OG flavors. The vanilla was always bomb!! Please bring those back!

Wish they still made the PowerBar!

I used to eat a Powerbar almost daily in the 90s and was quite heartbroken to see the original version disappear due to the anti carb craze. I always had a chocolate, Berry and vanilla crisp bar in my gym bag and loved them after a workout or as a snack, with a nice big bottle of water. Nothing else was ever quite like them and they always tasted amazing.These are a pretty good replica. I ordered the Berry, to start, as that one always tasted like Captain Crunch Crunchberries to me. These are a bit more fruit flavoured than the original but the texture is spot on and they do taste lovely.I'm hoping these stick around, and that they add the gorgeous vanilla crisp flavour back to the lineup as well. I'll check out the chocolate next, see if they are as much like Tootsie Rolls as their predecessor.If you liked the original bars, and the Berry flavor, just know that while this is not a perfect replica it is very, very close and quite lovely.NOTEThere is a popular review on here claiming the bars are wrapped in paper, lol? Uh, no. They are wrapped exactly like my old Powerbars and are often as tough to unwrap. I don't know whether that's a fake review or they received something else but these are quite securely wrapped.

Quick shipping, product exactly as shown, I would recommend this vendor. This is not my favorite flavor, I'll be happy when Power Bar starts making them again

Omg we just opened our case of 25 Power Bars and they are expired 11/23! I tried to return and Amazon states not returnable! What can be done?! They were very expensive.
