Great Alarm. Good decision.
After a week of debating between X-Sense, First Alert and Kidde I decided I was going to give X-Sense a try. Why? I had two First Alert alarms installed. Both alarms claimed to have a 10 year battery life. 1 of the alarms tripped over the summer and just about 2 weeks ago our other one decided to wake us up at 2 AM. Both were false alarms as we have additional carbon monoxide alarms which never triggered. I'd say they lasted us about 6 years so it wasn't terrible but waking up at 2 AM to a false alarm is enough to have customers check out other options.I know a few people who have Kidde alarms and have no complaints about them but while going through reviews on here it was a split of users who liked them versus those who didn't like them.Reading about the X-Sense alarms kind of eased my mind. I read through the reviews and there weren't many people with negative comments which I found weird. Either way I decided to go with these alarms and picked up 3. I was nervous that these may be some crap product from China but I was very happy when I received them.Alarms arrived a I was impressed from the box, to the alarm design, to the features and finally the simple installation. The ring/bracket which mounts on the wall/ceiling has 3 screws so be prepared to replace the 2 screw mount that's most likely on your ceiling already.Once the mount is installed all you have to do is turn the alarm clockwise onto the bracket. Once it sits on the bracket the alarm will turn on and activate. The screen does display the battery life and would also display the amount of carbon in the air if detected. The screen lights up blue to make it easier to see.The alarms are extremely loud but do not speak. Fire/smoke versus carbon has different alarms. There is a green flash every now and then that lets you know things are operating smoothly.Since I just installed these I can't go on much more about them but I hope I this helps anyone who may be stuck between a few different models.I'm very happy with my decision at this point.

A definite must!!
I have no doubt in my mind, this smoke detector saved my home and my family's lives. My mother has been recently accidentally leaving the stove on several times among other things. We believe it could be the onset of Alzheimer's or dementia due to her age. As with many from her age group/generation, she is in complete denial and refuses to accept help or seek a professional diagnosis. Due to this and recent loss of friends and her business to covid, we are trying to treat her issues delicately to prevent more mental/emotional stressors. How is this relevant to my purchase? We recently discreetly installed ring indoor cameras and this smoke detector between the kitchen and dining room for safety reasons, allowing her to retain her dignity and pride. Welp, about a month after installation, sure enough, this smoke detector rang throughout the 1.5k SQ foot house and alerted us to a potential threat. She had left the stove on again. The pot was burnt and the house, although not yet engulfed in smoke, had Teflon stank throughout. Because of this smoke detector, we were able to turn off the fire and contain the damage and everyone was alive and safe. I can't imagine what would have happened if this thing didn't alert us in time. I should note, the fire had not spread yet beyond the pot itself. The stove is still intact with no damage to the home or persons. Most smoke detectors will only alert when there is smoke present (meaning a fire has already spread). I'm so thankful I invested in this one in particular. The early warning definitely saved my home and family. I plan to purchase a couple more. Wish I had bought the 3-pack from the start. These also look great and were very easy to install. My old house has poor electrical wiring so I didn't want to risk installing a wired one. I should also note that NONE of my other smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors (Kidde & First Alert) near the kitchen and dining went off during this whole ordeal. You won't regret this tiny financial investment because the return is beyond priceless.Update 3/9/21 - Thankfully, have not had another instance since my original review. Unit still working great with zero false alerts and zero battery issues. Although originally intended as a backup to my existing First Alert Smoke Detector, Kiddie Nighthawk Plug-In (KN-COPP-3) and Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector (KN-COPP-8) in the same dining/kitchen area, this was the ONLY detector that went off when the stove was left on. Although many have their reservations relying on this non-mainstream unit as their primary smoke/co detector, I highly recommend it at the very least as a contingency.

Quick and easy to install
I had a Google Nest smoke detector for 6 1/2 years. I was not happy with it. It intentionally shuts off 7 years after manufacture (End Of Life Nov 2020) but 3 months prior, it started beeping every minute to tell me it was EOL. Since I bought it 3 months after it was built, I didn't even get the full 7 years. The Nest is an IoT (Internet of Things) device, so it can in theory spy on you. (It has a camera to tell if you're waving your arms at it, but the arm waving thing never worked.) Worse, a hacker could in theory break into it and spy on you. It also sounded repeated false alarms 3 months ago - the fire dept came out and confirmed there was no smoke. The X-Sense is none of that nonsense. It's good for 10 years at 1/3 the price of the Nest. It has a digital CO display, and you never have to replace the battery. It installed quickly and easily and passed its initial test. No IoT and no camera.

LCD does not show realtime C0 level
I purchased these thinking that the display would show you the current CO levels present, they do not do that. I took one of the units out to my garage and started up my Diesel tractor and gas car and let them run for about 15 minutes with the garage door closed. I had placed the detector behind the car at the level the exhaust came out. When I came back after 15 minutes of both vehicles running and entered the garage the fumes were so bad they burn your eyes, the X-Sense happily showed 0 ppm CO and not an alarm of any type. I opened the garage door and it took about an hour for it to air out and clear the fumes. These got picked back up and returned, thank you Amazon for an easy return process.

Buen producto
