Plantronics Savi 8240 UC Convertible, Wireless Headset, black

I spend a large part of the day doing training on Zoom. Previously, I'd had people tell me my audio wasn't great. I tried airpods, wired microphones, the built-in computer mike, but it kept sounding like i was in a big box. Which I am because my office is a large, high-ceiling, square, hard surface room. With this head set the folks in my Zoom classes now say it's like I'm in the room with them. No background noise! Battery life for me is 3.5 hours so I do need to top off the charge during every break.

We purchased for my coworker, but she couldn't get this to work with her hearing aids. I decided to try it for myself. It works great especially when working from home.

Product works great. option of in ear or on ear with head band. Biggest issue is the short battery life. No more than 3.5 - 4hrs. Make sure you get a spare separately.

2 low points of this device. 1st: Batterly life is very low, i believe it is 4 hours (out of an 8hr day), need to have a back-up battery. No way to charge any battery while using the headset because the battery has to be on the headset to fit into the base in order to charge. Must charge batteries while not using the headset. 2nd issue: sound quality low on some of the calls. Some calls are great to hear and others are very hard to hear, have to switch to a corded headset to hear the caller on the other line and that would be very annoying at times. Would go with another wireless headset but this is the only one that works with the software on my laptop for work, so I am kinda stuck with it as long as I want a wireless headset.

We bought these for out office staff and one for myself. First thing that was annoying was the fact that when you're on a call, your headset will beep when another call comes in. That is horrible because it beeps over the conversation. Second issue, I put my headset on about 10:45am, and hadn't even made any calls or answered any, and by 2:47pm it was dead. My previous Plantronics could last 9-5 and then some. The other 2 headsets won't even stay charged. I will probably be returning. Disappointed.

I had failure after failure with otherwise excellent Bluetooth earpieces for video conferences and VOIP telephone calls. I finally decided to spend the extra money for this DECT earpiece, which is similar to the one I used at my office pre-COVID. (DECT=Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications.) It was a breeze to install, cancels noise beautifully, and the sound is clear as a bell. No dropped signal, no static. And the range: I can be anywhere in my house and still have a clear connection. I'm delighted with this.

25 feet is the actual maximum range without anything between the headset and the receiver. When I go around a corner, the signal is dropped much closer. This headset has a setting for Maximum, Medium, and Short range. I tried Short range just for fun: it is 7 feet.Poly tech support had no solution or clue as to why the range is so ridiculous. The technician went to consult with engineering but has not gotten back to me yet.I had previously bought another Plantronics headset -- the W440 -- which is identical to this Savi 8240 except for the receiver. It had the same ridiculous range. Tech support had no solution for the W440. I thought the newer 8240 might be better, but it is just as unusable.The technicians tried to blame the range problem on my environment, that there may be interference from my other devices. However I have another headset of a different brand which has no such range issue. I can go to every corner of my large house and still remain connected. Clearly the problem is with the Poly/Plantronics products.

I love this head set it comes with so many options for wearing with the ear neck and head bands its a great value.
