Great lightweight and small knife
I purchased this for a very specific reason: I go for trail runs and wanted a small lightweight knife for my pocket. I have been nervous about going into the woods without at least a small blade and means to make fire, so I wanted this as an "ultra light" survival kit. I have other "pen knives" that would not be much use in the woods; they can't do much beyond cutting tape. I also have larger folding knives (Spyderco, etc.), fixed-blade knives (Mora) and multi-tools (Leatherman) that are just too heavy for my pocket when running. This item fits the bill, especially for my specific needs. I should add that I was able to grind/file off the jimping on the spine and make a good ferro rod striker; I use it (knife closed) with a 2" x 1/4" small ferro rod, tied on with some shock cord. Between these two items I was able to easily make a feather stick from white pine and strike some natural tinder for a fire. No, it is not as good as my Mora, but it will do in a pinch, which is exactly what I needed. (Yes, I could use a mini bic butane lighter, but I just prefer a ferro rod, and having a knife is a plus!) The knife clocks in at 33 grams (1.2 ounces) on my food scale after my little grinding job, so the product description "rounds down" but I am not complaining. The entire blade was sharp when it arrived, and didn't even need to be touched up. The locking mechanism is solid, the action is smooth, and I think I could open it with one hand pinching the blade between two fingers, though I will probably always choose two hands for safety on this one! So this was the perfect knife for my needs. Obviously, your needs may be different!

Great little pocket knife
I'm a home handy man and I need a little, light-weight blade on me for dozens of jobs every day around the house and yard. I have always enjoyed carrying the Camillus 882 I inherited from my late father-in-law. Its smooth rosewood grips (bonded--no rivets ) please both the eye and the hand as it resides in my pocket.. It has beautiful stainless blades, weighs a mere 1.8 oz, and goes everywhere with me. However, it has a very stiff blade deployment, and its in-hand use is less pleasing than its closed fondling. I decided perhaps its time for a modern-style blade so I thought I'd try this little Gerber. I've only just gotten it, but I must say, I'm impressed. It opens easily (the nail nick is totally superfluous, as you can grip the blade with two fingers to open it) locks firmly (a stockman style knife, of course does not) and the cut out for the index finger, as well as the slip-proof grips, give it a security in use that makes it feel like much larger tool than it actually is. And it weighs even less than my Camillus--only 1.2 oz. Of course, it's not pretty (except as good engineering is pretty) and it's too soon to speak to durability; but I think I'll keep the Camillus for going out on the town where it will be needed less and admired more. The Gerber is going to be the new workhorse.

Great pocket knife.
I love this knife. Lightweight, spine lock ( I don’t like those liner locks), sharp. It doesn’t have a roll pin for easy one handed opening, but you can do it if you practice because of the cutout in the handle. I had an identical one for years but lost it.

Price is a bit high but the knife a good choice for its intended purpose
A good knife for its purpose. Fit and finish is acceptable 1... The blade is centered 2... There is no wiggle between the blade and the handle when deployed 3... Sharp enough right out of the box 4... The rubberized scales are a nice touch for a tool 5... The blade locks up solidly and is adequate for its intended purpose. Function Even without a thumb stud the knife is smooth enough to be able to deploy one handed by using the pinch technique. If there are any cons, the grind on the blade is not suitable for slicing fruit and meal prep. The biggest negative is the price. There are many just as capable options out there for much less than the $40 I paid for this one. But other than that it's a fine knife for its intended purpose

Favorite pocket knife
Have owned this model for years, other people must like them too as they constantly disappear from work sites. Holds an edge and is just the right size pocket knife for my use.

Quality
In my opinion this is the best small pocket knife. Small, light and American made. I bought five for myself and gifts for my son in laws.

Light, sharp, US made, Gerber warranty
Have been using this knife more lately and saw the price went up to over $20, it was less than $15 when I bought it. I don't use this knife every day, but it's in my pocket nearly every day. Negligible weight, fits next to my keys and change pocket in jeans and adds no noticable bulk or weight. Shaving sharp out of the box, I have never sharpened it and while it won't shave hair right now it is sharp enough to scrape wood off of my hatchet handle to remove the factory finish. I could clean an entire deer or hog with this thing if I had to, and the shorter blade would be good for getting in tight cavities and the rubber grip will help with blood. Speaking of the grip, others said there's has come off after a few years. Mine still looks factory new, while I don't use this knife all day/every day for work or anything I believe it will hold up much longer than the year I've had it. And it's a Gerber, last time I had a problem with a broken multitool they replaced it as soon as they could (it even broke from user error and they still fixed it). I usually don't give 5 star reviews for anything but Gerber did a great job with this USA made little knife. 4.5/5* cause I would probably not spend over $25 for such a small knife but that's what it will be selling for next year. *Nov 2021 and it's $26.16 now
