A friend of mine is in IT, and had an engine light on a while back on. I'm a mechanic so he asked me to come check on it. I figured with his background, OBD trouble codes would be cake for him, so I bought him one of these guys and took it with me so he can check his own codes, clear the light, and check out his engine data.It wont make you a mechanic, but knowledge is power, and with one of these you can learn more about whats going on under your hood in a minute using your cell phone than you could if you stood there looking at it all afternoon. If you're a DIY type, it will get you going on the right fix, and if you still bring it to one of us, the more you can tell us up front about your problem, the less time we will need to spend diagnosing, and the better the odds of our estimate being on-point.I got a second one for myself to keep in my car. Even though it is too old to have OBD support, whenever I'm out and someone mentions their engine light is on, I like to be able to whip it out, tell em whats wrong and explain why they should spend a few dollars on an OBD adapter of their own.

Giant turd. Looks like the other reader I have but, this one won't hold a bluetooth connection. Tried on 3 separate devices on 3 separate vehicles. Requires you to forget and re-pair every time you want to reconnect. After the re-pair it's 50/50 if it will actually stay connected.Look to a different brand.

I was trying to use this to monitor the battery on my prius. Unfortunately, I wasted my time as the dongle was unable to stay connected to any bluetooth enabled device. Attempted to use 2 phones and a tablet, with no luck. Would pair, but would not connect reliably. On the off chance it did, it would not read any data from either my Toyota Prius or Honda Odyssey. Don't waste your time.

I cannot get this to connect.The app referenced in the slip of paper that came with the device was unhelpful. I downloaded a different ELM327 app that was better and explained that the device is supposed to create a wifi network and I should connect to it. However, my phone does not detect the wifi which means that it is not being created by the device. I bought this several months ago and did not try to use it till just now, so I am out of luck. I hate buying landfill from China.

I had a problem with my check engine light coming on and I'm about to get my car inspected. I wanted to find out for myself what the problem was. The scanner was easy to use. I just downloaded the free torque lite app and plugged the scanner into the plug under my dashboard. It gave me the code which I looked up online ( it had to do with trying to start my car in a very low temperature with my car starter and the cold cranking amps with my dual battery). I was then able to clear the code and get rid of that annoying check indicator light on my dash. The item did exactly what I wanted it to do. It told me where to look for the problem and it gave me peace of mind.

I purchased this in July because I was get to g work done on my 2002 silverado I got it 2 days ago and this thing does not work at all. After doing some research turns out they sale fake ones and this is one of them I just lost more than 9 dollars sooo save your self the trouble and look some were else

I bought another one because I left mine in a car I sold. Works well for pulling codes and resetting codes on OBD2 applications. Tried it on many cars, you will need an app for your phone or device but well worth it.
