This overview was easy to read and included good synopsis, review of major characters and even offered insightful questions to ponder .The price was most reasonable as well. If you are looking for a quick , yet fairly thorough review of this poignant story , this is the one to buy !

This was very helpful with my daughters HS English class. She would read the chapters then this and make sure she was on target with her reading

Literature Guides are very helpful in that they have saved many a student from unsatisfactory grades! This book condensed the novel and made "The Crucible" much easier to understand and came in handy when my friend waited till the last minute to the last minute!!

The Cliffsnotes gave a great discription of each character so the reader could understand more about the characters during the reading of the play. It gave backgound information of the times and insight of each person. The characters were more vivid while reading the play. It would be more helpful if the cliffnotes were reviewed prior to reading the play.

I bought this for a teacher who is going to use Miller's story in a high school English class. Spoiler: The Crucible is described as an attack on the Communist hunting of the 1950's, using the historical parallel of the Salem, Massachusetts witch hunts and trials of the late 1600's. These Notes do a great job of helping me to recall everything that went on in Miller's play, but the actual and literal afterward of the play shows that the play itself is directly attacking the Bible and Christianity.In a widely recognized translation of the Bible, the King James Version, the word "witch" is used and witchcraft is condemned. So, Miller lights that fuse, so to speak, that people thought that there were witches and set about hunting them down.The Notes did not branch off into the direction of outlining what civil rights (later encoded in the Bill of Rights of the US Constitution) were violated during those historical proceedings. Miller's play directly foreshadows the current controversy in the United States about the First Amendment, especially the freedom of expression of religion.This is my first encounter with Cliff Notes and I am impressed with their quality.

This was purchased for a high school sophomore to help with reading and understanding the play. It was a nice addition to his school work and class discussions. Buying the Cliffs Notes would probably be more helpful for longer and more complicated stories, but I think it is a good way to help younger readers learn how to extract pertinent information from their reading.

I had lost my original copy of Crucible of course the night before an essay was due, and I was lucky to have spotted this CliffNotes book. I ended up getting away with being the only student who received a grade in the A range for the assignment so I highly recommend this. Great help.

I had to read The Crucible at school so I bought this to help me understand everything clearly and it really did. It arrived pretty fast and it was in a good condition. The price was okay I think.

After seeing and exploring many textbooks for these classic novels, they often miss out essential details or are extremely limited, basic and childish (like the CGP ones) but this was absolutely fantastic- has masses of insightful information. would definitely recommend for anyone taking GCSE seriously/A Level/degree. Fascinating information.Well worth it- amazing value for what it's worth

These notes are very useful for studying this play. They give more background information and help to break down a lot of complexities in the text. It's particularly helpful for essay writing and understanding key themes.
