Metravi DT-725 TRMS AC/DC Digital Pocket Clamp Meter upto 600A with Auto Ranging

Most clamp meters out there are either AC only or Too poorly made or Too expensive. This fits in the right spot - well made & works for measuring both AC & DC (Current) using the clamp. Apart from the clamp measurements it also fulfills all roles as a general purpose multimeter. The measurement range is automatic. It comes with both a work light & light on the display. I believe the measurements are fairly accurate, the initial reading might not be 0, but as mentioned in the instructions - the measurements are approximately close to the correct reading. I use it mostly for DIY home works & electronics circuit design. It does come with an empty calibration certificate. Doubt there is any relevance to it. The build quality is excellent, feels solid in hand. It is very small in size (18cm x 5.5cm x 2.5cm approx.)

I needed a clamp meter to check the current draw of my fridge, AC, and solar system. I saw this one on Amazon and decided to give it a shot. It came in a nice package with a pair of probes and a thermocouple. It was easy to set up and use. The display was bright and easy to read, and the flashlight was a bonus for working in dark places. It measured both AC and DC currents accurately and had a NCV function to detect live wires. It also measured temperature, which was cool. The only thing I didn't like was that the backlight turned off too fast and the brand name was just printed on the front. Other than that, it was a great buy and I'm happy with it. Delivery was blazing fast.

The display brightness is good, the build quality and its easy to carry , no need to dedicated ammeters.

I took it after not using it for a month or two, suddenly nothing seem to work. I had a doubt about the probes as the temperature function was working fine. I had to check the continuity of the probes with a cheap ₹150 multimeter and later found the issue with the black probe not having continuity. How could this happen in a ₹2.5k plus product? I still remember everything was well and good when I last used it. I stored it well if that is of any concern. Thank god I had spare Fluke test leads lying around which were battered and multiple years used but still works like a charm. Why can't you make such quality at least for the leads? We are putting our life on the line working with electricity and the least you can do is to deliver a quality product. In the end, the quality of the leads was certainly comparable to a ₹150 multimeter leads.

IMPORTANT: These types of clamp meters are not accurate for small current drawing devices. Like I tested it with my ceiling fan (approx 65W) and it shows 0A current draw. When check with customer support, they clarified it. It will be more accurate as current draw increases. Then I tested it with my induction cooktop which can easily draw 1000W (depending on temperature setting) and meter showed correct amp. readings. For small appliances, need to use leakage current clamp meters. Still giving 5 stars as product is very good in terms of features, design and build quality.

Recieved without Calibration Certificate. The clamp meter plastic pouch was found tampered (torn open) when recieved. Overall check on the meter, i got what i desired so i am not returning it.
