A lovely story of the meaning of home
Grey Mouse lives in a cosy cottage with his family and he thinks it is the perfect home. Until he comes across White Mouse’s grander abode. White Mouse loves his own house but not as much as he loves Brown Mouse’s mansion. But which is the happiest home? Beautifully produced with flaps, fold-outs and peek-though pages which allow readers to uncover gorgeous house cut-outs and other treasures, this is a truly lovely story about the meaning of ‘home’. It tackles the themes of envy and learning to see through material things to appreciate what we have from with real subtlety and kindness of heart. The gentle rhyming text is paired perfectly with the artwork ( love the vintage feel of the art, reminiscent of Jill Barklem and Kazuo Iwamura) and both come together to create a reassuring tale of home with a deeper philosophical significance.

An absolutely charming book!
*borrowed from library*You know, every now and then (well, quite often actually), a picture book comes along and makes you, the grown up, stop and think about your lot.I live in a tiny house, and I am constantly moaning about living in a small house, and how I can't wait until we're able to move and upgrade a bit. I spend hours scrolling through the photos of other people's homes on Instagram, jealous.👀And whilst all of that will never change (😆) this ADORABLE picture book did make me stop and feel more grateful for what we DO have here.A small house yes, where we are all constantly tripping over each other through lack of space yes, but it's A HOME. 🏠It's where family is. Love. And that's exactly what this story is about - one small mouse longing for the bigger and better house down the road, and the mouse who lives there, longing for the even bigger mansion at the top of the hill. And the mouse who lives there, who sees the small house of the first mouse at the bottom of the hill through her telescope, and she longs to live there, because it looks like such a happy home. 🤗This is such a heartwarming and sweet story, truly it is, and I'm so glad to have read it. The illustrations are gorgeous, with a slightly vintagey feel, and they lend themselves perfectly to the 'tail' 🤭
