Delicious with easy to follow recipes!
This cookbook was a big hit for me and my kids! As a single dad and an inexperienced baker, baking is not easy for me and can be quite intimidating. I struggle with even the basics sometimes and this limits the time I spend in the kitchen with my kids. Cupcake Cookbook for Kids made me confident in getting back in and spending that quality time with my kids. I started with reading chapter one to learn the basics, with simple tips and tricks. After reading the intro, I decided to follow the authors advice and begin with the basic recipe's in chapter two. We decided to make the Chocolate Chip Raspberry Cupcakes and they did not disappoint. They were light, delicious and turned out wonderfully. The kids were completely engaged throughout the process and loved the final result (they also liked the tasting throughout :)). My son, who does not like to participate much, was asking to do more and more and you could see his confidence grow. After our experience, I continued to read more of the book and have developed enough confidence to attempt a fun-filled cupcake for our next attempt (wish me luck!). Honestly, the kids were able to figure most of it at the end and my role will most likely turn into more of a supervisory one :) Thank you Charity Mathews for another great book!

More than just a fun cookbook...
More than just a fun cookbook, this book teaches baking as well! the first chapter takes kids through getting the right baking equipment, to the right ingredients, and the included hints and helps really offer great baking insight! Then the next chapters teach the different types of cupcakes, from filled to basic to holiday themed. Along the way your kids will learn how to take basic pantry items and turn them into fun toppers and treats for their cupcakes! With unique combinations (chocolate chip raspberry!) to season favs (cinnamon spice with apple filling!) to fun themed (m&m finned mermaid cupcakes), your kids will find some new favorite cupcakes in this collection. My only peeve with the book (ad it is a big one) is that there aren't photos with every recipe. This is a KIDS cookbook, so it SHOULD have pictures, so kids can see what they cupcakes SHOULD look like, without having to see if its on the cover picture, and if not, then have to guess. But put this with a fun selection if cupcake wrappers and toppings, and your kids will be baking all Summer long!

Four cheers for the Cupcake Cookbook for Kids!
Who knew making beautiful AND yummy cupcakes could be so easy that my kids could do it? Charity Mathews makes it doable and fun to get kids baking tasty creations mostly on their own. My kids of 9 and 11 years have tried a few of these already, and the recipes and detailed instructions did not disappoint. Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Frosting were a surprisingly simple spring delight. And the literally fun-filled treats, including the Creamy Dreamy Orange Cupcakes, really showed my kids how much they could do (they’re even planning their debut on your next favorite baking show). There is so much to love about this book. Kids can learn step-by-step how to make impressively cute and delicious cupcakes of all kinds, and they can do it with the smart, foundational baking “how to” laid out for them right at the beginning, setting them up for success with easy-to-follow instruction on safety, equipment and tools, and basic concepts. It has certainly become our family of four's go-to for cupcake desserts!

This cookbook has no illustrations... Come on, it's for kids!
My pre-teen daughter loves baking but mostly enjoys decorating cupcakes and cakes. I bought this cookbook that is geared towards kids because it looked like it might have some fun decorating ideas for her to try. This cookbook has NO PICTURES! That takes all the fun (for a kid especially) out of it. A kid's cookbook typically would have several pictures and illustrations. I am disappointed that this book is just page after page of instructions... Just a little boring and not very engaging for a child. I'm sure these recipes are great but a photo of the finished recipe would be better and would enhance this cookbook greatly.

Meant for adults
The first page is basically the only page with pictures. The recipes might appeal to children but the book is written for adult cooks with no picture of the cupcake, no intermediate step picture and verbose text.
