Heavy rainfall causes issues
Can confirm...heavy rain causes problems! I replaced the standard anemometer with this sensor about a month ago. The sensor is mounted on a mast and sits ~ 25 feet in the air with good exposure. During that time we have had several heavy rain events. So far on at least 4 occasions, the heavy rain caused the readings to get "stuck" on a set value for prolonged periods of time, presumably due to drops of rain getting lodged around the sensors and causing erroneous readings (the only thing I can figure). Short of taking the whole thing down, the fix has been to literally shake the mast and dislodge the drops for the sensor to start working correctly again...or wait for the drops to evaporate. Obviously this is unacceptable, especially for a device that Davis charges $675 for! In normal (benign) conditions the sensor works fine. Certainly more sensitive than the mechanical wind bird, hence 2 out of 5 stars. If this only occured in rare cases, I could overlook. But living in the SE, we frequently get heavy rainfall. Like so many of Davis's products...it's not ready for primetime and I cannot recommend or justify the very high price, unless of course you live in an area that rarely gets heavy rainfall. I imagine heavy winter precip would be an issue as well...if you live in a cold climate. Hey Davis...back to the drawing board with this one or lower the price to under $200.

Major flaw
Stops transmitting in driving rain!

Doesnโt work in driving rain
It seems to take some time to recover after the rain stops. I purchased mine directly from Davis Instruments. It has failed in at least two recent rainstorms.
