I did order more!
My self watering pots arrived in 2 days. They came perfectly packed, the kits were complete, and they had easy to follow instructions. The reason I ordered self watering pots is because my plants had gnats and no matter what I did, I could not get rid of them. After extensive research, I read that using self watering pots is better as water is absorbed from the bottom instead of the top where gnats love to live and multiply. I also put small layer of gravel stones on top to cover the soil. Fingers crossed this works!

So far, so good
Its been a few weeks since I planted my basil plant and its doing really well and growing really tall! It comes with a puck of hardened soil which I had a little bit of difficulty with. I put it in the amount of water it called for and it immediately broke up the hardened soil (even though directions said you may need to use hands or utensils to break it up) and it was just extremely wet soil in a bag. It took me some time to slowly let the water drain while trying to keep as much of the soil as possible. I wasn't able to use the whole thing but I used most of it, and mixed some of my soil in to fill it up. It suggests to use the soil given so that's why I did, but I imagine you'd be able to skip it if you want, and use whatever soil you prefer. All in all, it was pretty easy to assemble and appears to be working well. I gave it 4 stars on sturdiness because I haven't had it long enough to really be able to tell. However, the plastic is thick and it seems to be made pretty well so I expect it'll last.

Simple and Sturdy
I do not have a green thumb, I can't even keep air plants alive with air. (And succulents? No.)So when my home really needed a touch of something alive, besides all the people, I searched for the easiest and hardiest, and more important the best way to help them help themselves. These pots came up, and are fantastic. They are simple to set up, practically foolproof water indicator, and I don't have to worry about my plant on the daily. This set also came with coco-soil, a hard puck that you expand with water. It was like a one stop shop for the plant novice. The gray is a dark grey and it goes very nicely in any room I've moved it around to. No worry about spills from over filling, very easy to set up and use.Highly recommend!!

Well designed and plants are happy
I have most of my houseplants in Lechuza or Gardener’s Supply Viva line of self watering planters. This one is made as well as them and has a better design. The moisture meter fits inside the insert and can’t be pulled out. My 2 year old pulled out the Lechuza moisture meter and there was no way for retrieve the bottom piece without taking the entire plant out to get to the moisture meter below. Viva at least comes out in one piece. This one stays in place. I like the matte finish also. I am not a huge fan of the nutrient void coir soil so I still use Gardener’s Supply Self Watering Planter soil but the coir will work with fertilizer. I have to buy separate soil with the other self watering planters I use so that doesn’t bother me.

They almost got it then...
These pots are almost there and then! The seller offers a 20% discount to returning customers who scan a code. What about customers who want the discount and don't scan codes? Though they cost a little more the Aquaphoric is a much better self-watering pot. I have both and I returned to Aquaphoric with NO annoying code to scan. These, the inside pot sets inside the outside container as opposed to setting on the outside container as does the Aquaphoric. This is a much cleaner and nicer look plus you don't have two different colors circling the top. And the red float is so much harder to see! Thin red line against my foilage! Disappears! The 20% discount might bring me back but for the price, I went with Aquaphoric, no annoying code to scan. Just plain straight-up great self-watering pots! Sorry GARDENIX you dropped the ball! I did email you. You should have answered me. But you ignored my email. No customer service combined with this and other design flaws should rate this a two. The only reason I can give it a three is it does perform well. Thus far.

My plants are very happy with these pots.
I really like these pots and so do my plants. I wish they had more sizes and colors, but I can live with the limited selection. I like the water meter -- it is not really high-tech and it's not perfect all the time (once in a while the indicator gets stuck but is easily unstuck by tapping it a few times). Even not being perfect works pretty well for me. I tend to forget to water regularly and this not only helps my plants go longer between watering, but also helps me notice that it's time to water. I also think what helps my plants is that I follow the advice in the instructions and add a bit of plant food to my water and I also mixed in a little bit of soil. The pots drain nicely, hold water a long time and give me a simple meter to help me be consistent in my watering. I find this to be a great product.

Good But For One Detail
Okay so OVERALL, I really like these pots. But, it seemed like my plants were mad about the transition. At first, I didn't know if they were mad because I switched to inorganic or if it wasn't functioning correctly. I pulled the liner out and realized that over half of the water slits weren't open, some not at all, some partially. I took a knife and cut them. The third photo shows just how open they are supposed to be so I still have work to do. It was tricky though because my pots were already planted. This was the case on both orders of the 5.5" pots that I had. I only knocked off 1 star though because otherwise, the pots are well made and the issue is easily fixable. I also ordered these pots in the 3" size. All of those were perfectly made and those plants are thriving, so I really think thats the root :) of my problem with my repot. Will update I need to.
