The speed control is handy to have.
Seems to be well made and functional for the money.

Great tool BUT CHANGE THE GREASE!
This thing rips. It’s really nicely made, and easily serviceable. Great tool for the money BUT like another reviewer posted, the grease from factory is no good! Don’t be afraid to unscrew the 4 Phillips head screws holding the angle drive to the main body. It comes right apart. Inside the spur and pinion gears were completely dry. All the grease, which was the consistency of cold petroleum jelly, was packed against the housing and making no contact with the gears at all. This is probably why there are some reviews stating fast failure. It’s a powerful high speed tool, and without grease on the gears that will melt down pretty quick. Pull the angle drive off at the 4 screws, scoop out the grease, load it with NLGI 0 grease (just search that on line, it’s very common) and it will be a great tool for you.

Cannot get spare motor brushes
The grinder works good, but brushes wear quickly. Made several attempts to order more motor brushes, but to no avail cannot order. Called powerbuilt and alltrade. Researched brushes on line....none. Therefore, when the spare set they send with grinder wear out the grinder will be garbage and will have to order a new grinder. Will not buy powerbuilt tools again as they do not stand behind their product.

Broke after minimal use
Disclosure: I won this as a giveaway and did not purchase from Amazon. This grinder has worked fine for the past couple years and it go the job done. Over the course of owning and using this tool, I have averaged approximately 1 hour of use per week or maybe 150 hours max.Brushes are only about half used. The grinder was loud to begin with, but in the past several weeks it got noticeably louder. Loud with ear protection loud. It finally took a dump when plastic parts started shooting out of the vents. I shut off the tool and dismantled it to see what happened and several ball bearings spilled out. I was unable to locate where the bearings were supposed to go and what plastic parts broke. For a free tool, I suppose it did the job. I will definitely be purchasing a different brand next time.At this point since I'm uncertain what broke, this has become a dangerous tool and is better off in the trash.

Overall good tool BUT...
Pros:Good price and overall quality, variable speed, smooth start....Cons:It is noisy, it has some vibration just from the box. Why?Because you have no grease on the gears! (Look at my photos - absolutely dry paper without any oil on it)So, We have the wrong type of grease in the gearbox NLGI 2 or NLGI 3.For this type of power tool right grease should be NLGI 0 consistency (like ketchup or mustard consistency). How long this tool can work without grease?? Who knows?I don't know because I cleaned out the old grease and added the right grease and I feel no vibration, I saved my ears and gears!

Not worth any amount of money.
Couldn't withstand around 15 minutes of grinding.Ate smoke and died.Kind of put me in a hard place as quite a few other units are backordered.
