I think someone said something similar about another mat in their review, but as I pulled this mat out of its bag the hairs on my arm were literally standing on end, lol! Definitely NOT anti static. However this mat has the nice bonus of coming with a grounding wrist strap, so put that on yourself and discharge the mat before staring work and you should be fine. Also very heat resistant. I was changing the battery on my phone and used a 350C heat gun with no problems.As an aside, I don't believe ANY of the silicone mats sold by Amazon claiming to be anti static actually are. They're all the same. I think if you want an anti static mat you need to buy a specific anti static mat and that won't be heat resistant. At least not at the budget end of the scale. So this one's a bargain considering it comes with the grounding strap.

If you do a lot of soldering then I highly recommend purchasing this soldering mat. It's well made and has an excellent non-slip finish. Great for just placing a PCB directly on to the surface and soldering without having to mess about with clamps. The indents are useful as these can be used to assist holding components of different heights close to the board. The soldering mat is very flexible and seems to be heat resistant enough. It certainly helps protect my table from scratches etc!! The free wrist strap is a bit cheap looking compared with other types I have, probably does the job, but how long it would last is unknown and does not work with the mat. If you want a decent soldering mat, good size, then I recommend this one. I should have bought one years ago!!

I've not put its heat resistance to much of a test, but it has coped well with such soldering I have done at 251˚C. The little recesses for parts and tools are really useful, and the area is large enough for smaller PCBs and models.

Lovely fast delivery and very pleased with the item,haven’t tried it with the heat side of things but I brought it for mainly sifting through bags of jewellery such as small earring backs or studs etc,the different compartments are most helpful and I’m able to store plyers or tweezers or tiny screwdrivers and have them to hand straight away.and I had also thought about the watch repair route so this will make things even easier.

Exactly what I needed

Great way to protect a surface when working on small projects. Heat proof for soldering but also great on non hot jobs. The mat holds everything where you put it. Endless trays and pockets make losing that tiny screw a thing of the past. Handy magnetic inserts really keep those small components in place. Easy to clean and hard to damage. Never knew I could be so happy with a simple work mat!!

A must for anyone soldering it has lots of space even magnetic areas to hold tiny important screws easy clean none slip wouldn't be with out one now
