Helpful Adjectives for Fiction Writers (Indie Author Resources)

Gives ideas if you’re having a block. I would have liked more depth ideas. But it’s nice to have when there are those days you’re feeling stuck. This little books makes a good reminder or pick me up.

This is a thin book of 70 pages total, of which about 63-64 are actual words. And yes, you can find the words in the thesaurus portion of your dictionary app. However, what I find the most useful is that the words are alphabetized by categories such as Color or Personality Traits, or Texture. The categories are listed in the table of contents. The categories are then further broken down into subsets such as gray or metallic, or brave or indecisive, or bubbly or rough - with a list for each subset. While I might have thought of several of the words in the subsets, this gives me more ideas without having to wrack my brain or hop from one word to another on my dictionary app. There are two pages to add your own words/categories if you wish. Plus, I much prefer paper books over electronic. The reason for only four stars instead of five is because I believe, and wish, more than 27 categories had been included.

In my humble opinion, this book could be quite helpful in writing elementary level stories, etc. It wasn't what I was expecting. I was anticipating something that would provide more than what this little book does.As I said, for elementary level writing, this book might be quite useful; however, it just doesn't do anything for me, as a casual writer of more sophisticated prose.Had I read the existing reviews of this book, I would have chosen something more suitable for my particular needs.It does include a petite collection of elementary descriptive words that some may enjoy perusing and ultimately using in their project(s).

LOVE LOVE LOve!I have a notebook copied with all three books and every word. I'm a new KDP novelist and This is the best Resource I could have asked for when trying to decipher and come up with unique and tasteful words that don't droop or lag the story. Not to mention no more repeating VERY any longer! GET THEM ALL!

This is a very useful and concise resource. It is a great reference booklet for adjectives. It's divided very well and can be easily navigated.

Got this thinking it would help me with my writing, but most of these words are familiar. Save your money - use website engines to find synonyms/antonyms.

This book is an excellent way to help writers think about which words they use to describe things. One thing I love about it is there is plenty of space to add your own words to each list, therefore personalising the book. Well worth the pennies I spent on a print copy.

Love using this to inspire me as I write. It is really useful to have such a tool in one's possession. I love learning new vocabulary as well as polishing my current vocabulary. This is a very useful book for anyone who is willing to learn.
