The Secret

I bought this for fun I had heard about it some time ago and thought it would be fun for the family to do together. Unfortunately I think I'm the only adventurous one. Lol. But life gets too busy and it sits there waiting for me to get more spare time. Still enjoy exploring and delving into it when I can. I read someone had solved one I think last year. How awesome for them and rewarding. I will keep at it. Great to keep imagination and curiosity going and bring friends and family together.

The book was well written and trying to match the clues to locations is fun.

This is a very interesting puzzle/treasure hunt guide book. With one fatal flaw....it's a lo-fi reproduction of the original book. The pictures are blurry low resolution (look like an old photocopy of a photocopy of an old picture) copies of actual painted artworks. The clues in the pictures are probably obscured by a lack of detail, but the story is accurate it seems. The original book has a black cover, the copy is a white cover. If your looking to "solve" the puzzles seriously you should probably pay the king's ransom that they are asking for the original printings of the book (black cover is the first clue that you are looking at the real deal, extortionate high price is the second clue). It's long out of print and probably never really sold that many copies. The treasure is real though! Only 3 puzzles have been solved if I remember correctly. I bought it as a curiosity, I think that it is worthwhile as such. If your on the hunt pay up and get the real one. Read all of the reviews. The story is available on TV and the internet. Expedition unknown has a few interesting episodes. Happy hunting!

Great book, it also has the possibility to lead to actual treasure. If you can decipher the clues.

I gave this book as part of a Christmas gift. She loves Josh Gates . She will be the third winner; I have no doubt. She was so excited. The book was very well illustrated.

In this ibooks Nov 2018 hardback reprint copy (ISBN 978-1-59687-444-2) of the 1982 book, "The Secret a Treasure Hunt", the script is darker and easier to read, and the characters and drawings are clearer, than in the ibooks Nov 2014 paperback issue (ISBN 978-1-59687-401-5) my local library has lent me. Also, the figures are properly aligned on the pages; not off-center as in the 2014 copy. However, the 12 colorful pictures are still not clear enough for the reader to see the necessary clues. For that, the internet is still required. Too bad ibooks can't do today what the original book maker could do in 1981/82 for $9.95.
