Some of her growing up years were spent in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. She studied at the La Martiniere Girl's School in Lucknow before re-locating to the United States of America. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 2000. Her first film was in Tamil, 'Thamizhan', which released in 2002. Madhur got married to his long time girlfriend Renu, an interior designer, in December 2003 in Mumbai. Madhur dared to expose the high society and celebrity world in his movie ""Page 3"" starring Konkona Sen Sharma. Madhur wanted to cast Kareena, but due to date problems, he opted for Konkona. The movie was a blockbuster and won many awards including the National Award. Madhur was also accused by an aspirant actress Preeti Jain of rape; later the case took a new turn when Madhur alleged Preeti of hiring a contract killer. Madhur's next was ""Corporate"", which centered around two industrialists; Aishwarya Rai was cast to play the lead, but the actress quit, thus making way for Bipasha Basu. Madhur then came up with a venture, ""Traffic Signal"", a movie based on the life of drug peddlers, prostitutes and beggars who live on the streets of Mumbai. Madhur became a dad on September 18th 2006 when wife Renu delivered a baby girl. Madhur s work is not only appreciated by Indians, but by audiences worldwide. Madhur s Corporate has been selected for the 5th Berlin Asia Pacific Film Festival. In 2008, his movie ""Fashion"" created a stir and won acclaim for all involved in the project and was menat to be his most accomplished work!
