Understand What You're Getting
Understand what you're getting here. It's an inexpensive set of lights. It's going to be an expensive set of lights in the box when they arrive.Setting them up - They come in 4 parts - a self-contained "puck that has a single LED bulb, an on/off switch on the bottom and a combination solar panel & dusk/dawn sensor on the top. A clear plastic "globe" twists & locks into the bottom of it, then you have a 2-piece stake system - the top is an aluminum bit to look good above the dirt and the bottom is a plastic stake to stick in the ground. Folks mention the switch being a trick thing to know to turn on - just twist off the clear plastic globe and it's right there on the bottom of the puck. Easy peasy.Do they look good? Pretty good. All the visible "metal" parts are aluminum and they're pretty sleek. Are they bright? Not at all. It's a single LED bulb. These are not going to light a pathway or anything. Think of them as a dim accent light. I put two of them inside a 12" plant pot with plants that are around 18" tall. They don't light the entire plant up, nor do they cast a light on the ground around the pots. You could literally put these edge-to-edge along both sides of a sidewalk and the light wouldn't hit the center of the sidewalk. That's what you get from a single LED bulb. Are they durable? No. The puck and top of the stake are thin aluminum. On a couple out of the box, the aluminum strip that wraps the outside of the puck was loose. Four of the 12 lights inside my box didn't work and I had to have them replaced. If you bump these with a lawn mower, string trimmer, or put them along a driveway where you might hit them, they'll be trash in no time. if you want some dim accent lights inside a planting bed, plant pots, etc., they work for that. The two parts of the post (the aluminum top and the plastic stake) come apart easy so it's easy to leave the plastic stake in the dirt if you pull them up to reposition them. I have these in plant pots on a rooftop patio in Chicago; I expect I'll need to bring them back inside for the winter - I can't see them making it through a Chicago winter exposed and still working come spring. Conclusion - I didn't bury the lede. You get what you're paying for here. Choose appropriately based on your need.

Not for heavy rain
I experience heavy rainfall where I live and I found water that water kept getting into the solar light, damaging it eventually. I put some silicone over the exposed areas which seems to be working. They were a good price when I got them but I wouldn't buy again

Works for me
I see that people complained because they had to put these together --- which means you pull off the ring, turn the light to "on", put the ring back on, put the stake part into the sleeve and jam it into the ground or a pot or whatever. I did that and they all worked just fine and I have no complaints. Check back in a year and maybe I'll complain because they were inexpensive and didn't perform like the expensive ones. Probably I won't complain because I thing you get what you pay for and I'm happy about these.

More Than Pathway Lighting
Not gonna lie, I didn’t purchase these for pathway lights or for lining our drive; had I, I would have to agree with other reviews on the fragility of these solar lights for the area they’re intended for. They aren’t sturdy enough to stand up to any abuse, intentionally or accidentally. If you have hard ground, you’re going to be disappointed attempting to install them. However, as I scoured the reviews from others, I hit upon one review that was exactly what I was looking for, and that was using these in my deck plants for nighttime illumination. For this, they are perfect! Our large, taller planters were the perfect option for using these lights; the soft soil is necessary for pushing the stakes down without breaking them, and even then, you want to use caution-not only for care in not putting pressure on the stake, but also so you don’t destroy your plant’s root system. All lights worked out of the box. Rechargeable batteries already installed; simply turn the light into the “on” position (underneath the screw off globe) let it soak up the sun, and enjoy the light show at dusk!Edit: After 5 days of use and less than the sunniest of weather for Florida, I’m impressed these lights turn on before dark, and at 6:47 a.m. they are still lit - 13 hours later. Got my vote for purchasing again!

Nice lights that make my garden look like fairy land!
I couldn't figure out the "on/off" switch at first. The instructions don't help. You have to disassemble the top part by turning it from the inside - not the outside as the outside is just a metal cap. Push and turn to reveal the battery and on/off switch.I was concerned with the negative reviews that say how flimsy they are and that they break when inserting into the ground. Yes, they are flimsy and the stake is plastic, but knowing that, I was very careful in inserting into the ground. Pushing straight in vs. at an angle. If you are putting into hard soil - dig first, yes.Brightness is fine. I have them for "fairyland" effect, so not too important if they completely light my path. I like the star pattern. I have one right by the step leading to my front door which does the trick of illuminating it if my porch light isn't on.I live in Texas where it doesn't get too cold (Just installed in Nov.). I know extreme weather can affect battery life. Have only had them for a couple days now. Will write an update if complete fail. So far so good. Really like them!

Great lights
Recently used these at a camping music festival to mark the perimeter and to mark holes in the ground in our camp site. Worked great bright enough to be able to move around camp with decent lighting.
