Don't tell me, you lost the cap on your old vent or the little strap that holds the cap to the vent broke so every time you remove the cap from the vent you worry about where to put it, right? Do yourself a favor and replace them with these. These work great. Use pliers and pull the old vent plug out of the can, wipe off all the dirt that has accumulated around the hole, press these in and you are in business. The cap snaps when you attach it to the vent so you know you have a good seal. No leaks on the way home from the gas station!

This product will be used on some new gas cans that came without vents. It didn't occur to me to save the vents from the old cans. But I did save the spouts which are much easier to use than the new ones.

Easy installed

Good product. I also liked not having to buy a truck load of them. Tips: Be sure to support container in a fashion that minimizes its spring-like compression when striking the vent cap with hammer face --- close vent cap tightly with finger power before striking with hammer face --- pilot drill a 1/4" starter hole --- drill with sharp bits only and use minimal pressure to ensure roundness of hole --- do installation at 80 plus degrees if possible --- apply grease like lubricant to finished drill hole and to closed cap. EASY JOB!

It took me 2 cans to find proper combination size of drill bits. Drilled hole with 1/2” bit. Attempted to hammer with a rubber mallet, in place but bounce back was excessive. Then used a tapered bit to essentially counter sink part of the way through and then could hammer it in place securely. Otherwise would have to drill oversize hole and secure with gasoline resistant glue.

Without a vent, fuel poured from a vessel will create a vacuum and struggle to flow.This vent eliminates the vacuum. I used a 1/2" bit to drill the hole before the vent cap would pop into place.Worked as it should! Watch videos if you have any questions.

Easy to install

I ordered three of these vent caps. I needed to repair/upgrade two existing fuel cans. I've used the third one to provide an ether (Quick Start spray can) port just ahead of the updraft carburetor on my 1975 Ford 3000 tractor. I did not experience any difficulty installing the caps, except that, I had to upgrade to a half inch drill bit. The 31 /64th left too small a hole to insert the cap, no matter how hard I pushed! In fact, the half-inch hole was challenging enough. A larger channel lock pliers and a small block of wood allowed me to complete the install. I did not need to use extra sealant and I am not anticipating any leakage. I also did not experience any difficulty with shavings entering the fuel cans. By starting out with a very small bit and upgrading three bit -size steps at a time, the drilling curls followed the bit out without fail. The caps appear to be of substantial quality and should last a long time. – Doug

Bought to vent my non venting gas cans.It’s a odd size hole required like a 1/2 size between common drill bits. Tried a step bit as well and I ended up drilling to big a hole ruining one of cans.Not sure if I ll try it on second can.Good concept but a pain to get a tight fit.
