Well written and organized. Good explanations and illustrations of digital topics. I highly recommend this text.

If someone who is just starting to learn about digital systems or even someone who has years worth of experience in this field, asks me what's the best book in the market to get a thorough grip on the fundamentals of digital systems, this is the book. I may not have read every book, but I'll tell you this, it definitely won't get any better.It elucidates every point with numerous and well explained examples, from what binary numbers are to analog/digital conversion methods, memory, RAM structure, etc. It is worded in almost layman's terms so the essence is easy pick up. Practical and relevant problems are given which further reinforce understanding. You also can't explain digital systems today without talking about VHDL and AHDL (Hardware Description Languages - HDL). Not only are the concepts explained through examples and diagrams, they're also covered by the HDL's, so if you're a college student where you'll most likely be introduced to them, this is ideal.I don't I need to say anything more, as it's very clear how strongly I think of this book. Get it, it will make a huge difference in your understanding.

This in the best book I have read introducing digital electronics. It is much more in depth then other books on the market. The examples go in to a level of detail that gives you a much better understanding of how certain concepts work. This is the only book I have come across that actually describes how the various logic families (CMOS, TTL) work on a transistor basis. Just great!

It was not what I expected. I typed in the ISBN of the book I wanted the 11th edition. It displayed the 11th edition on the page, but this one came up under other formats paperback options. I did not know it was the 7th edition, until after it arrived. I thought it had a different cover, because the publisher used a different design for the paperback option. I was not expecting it to be a workbook either. I needed the textbook; however, after looking through the book, I discovered that it is a handy tool to accompany the textbook. It is a study guide meant to accompany the textbook, and has exercises and vocabulary broken down. Once the textbook arrive it will save me time learning the concepts.

Tenth Edition is almost identical to the current Eleventh Edition. Most of the problems are identical. Others have four additional items added. Book is well written with many problems. Many answers are given but appear random as opposed to answers to every odd question.

I just finished a semester of Digital Electronics using this text. I got the A for the semester that I worked hard for. The authors of the book did a very good job of explaining things. I think the publisher is a little over exuberant in trying to include the programming topics in this text. It would have been better to put in a footnote and refer to a separate supplemental book. I have studied several programming languages over 30 years and realize how they go in and out of fashion. The programming material was not used at all in my class for that reason. In glancing through it I can see where it could be useful if the text were spread over a couple of semesters and the programming used as lab work for students who had never programmed, but it might as well be another class. The other thing that bugs me is the online material. Although it is sadly very common for online educational material to be flat out incorrect, the errors are very difficult to deal with when a student encounters them during a course. A live instructor can correct an exam question or answer immediately. When you are given a bad score on an online quiz there is no way to prove that you did actually know the answer and give the correct response.
