Deep characters from Sylvia Violet !
Thorne, 42, is an idiot most of the time. He's a workaholic and pays for sex with a rent boy regularly to satisfy himself. This particular Friday, his usual guy, Marc, is no longer available, so he says yes to try someone new.Dash is different; a challenge for Thorne. Dash, 22, with dirty blonde curly hair and hazel eyes, is working to save money for school, and turns out to be perfect for prickly Thorne. Their sex is off-the-charts spectacular, with BDSM, roughness, degrading language, and it's everything Thorne wants. They switch roles, each man being satisfied, and enjoying their sexy times.Dash adds to their time together by being forceful and teaches Thorne more ways to accomplish real relaxation; like talking, eating and watching movies, too. Thorne is learning just how much he's been missing out on. As their scorching sex continues, so does the togetherness. Each man is falling for the other, but how could it possibly work? What about the age gap? Unfortunately, just as each man realizes they are "in love," Thorne opens his mouth and screws it all up. Both are miserable until Thorne comes up with a way to open up their standoff.I like Thorne, even if he was an moron at times, and Dash/Riley is so in need of Thorne. They could really be perfect together, and we've seen the glimpses of how wonderful it could be for them. I love Sylvia Violet's lively story, deep characters, and satisfying outcomes.Highly recommended. ENJOY !=====

Dash and Thorne
I really enjoyed Riley and Thorneโs story. They met in an unconventional way, but neither could stop thinking of the other. Could this work?

Two characters in search of a better plot
I really wish I could write the positive (glowing) review that most readers of Professional Distance have done. Although the author is a decent writer, in the sense that she is descriptive and can move a plot forward, I felt that the falling in love with a paid escort plot was frankly silly. (Disclaimer: NOT a fan of "Pretty Woman" either.) I had NO belief in the escort agency that supplied Dash's services, or in Dash as an escort. He and Thorne fall into instalust. Although the author tries her darnedest to make that more, it eluded me for about 90% of the story.Frankly I think these characters and this story could have worked much more effectively if Thorne had simply been the emotionally closed-off, closeted workaholic and Riley had simply been a free-spirited, younger wanna-be struggling chef and *not* an escort. The two characters were just strong enough to deserve a better plot. The "conflict" should have focused on Thorne's fear of coming out, their age difference and Riley's fear of not being good enough (in terms of position, class) for Thorne. These are all believable reasons for emotional conflict. The escort plot seemed (to me) to be an excuse for a lot of sex. Make that a story-overwhelming amount of sex. It was great that the guys had a sexual connection. Not so great when their sexual connection began to undermine the growth of the emotional one. I thought the characters could have been better served if Riley could have broken through Thorne's emotional barriers with, say, *just* his youthful charm, his food, and his joie de vivre. Instead we get a lot of ready-made sturm-n-drang about Riley's profession, and the ready-made need (or is it excuse) for lots and lots and more lots of sex, both on and off the clock. Also, I knew I was in trouble when the author's mentions of certain classic 1980's movies made me stop reading the book and go over to YouTube. I experienced difficulty staying focused on the story for its second half (right around the time Thorne's ice began to crack). I would stop reading and not feel any need to continue. Always a bad sign.Someone reading this review may ask - well why'd you buy the book? - The plot is announced, after all. Because I was hoping for a heartfelt drama that might actually make me a fan of Pretty Woman-like stories, but in this case I just kept wishing the "Pretty Woman" elements would go away.I will admit that Thorne's re-work of a certain classic moment from a certain 1980's film is great. The author did a good job of leading into that, and it was an unexpected signal of the strength of his feelings for Riley.Spoiler alert!! --Also, I really lol'ed at the reaction of one of Thorne's co-workers when Thorne finally comes out at work. "Whatever. You don't work with your dick."-- End of spoiler --All in all? This is a story with some unbelievable plot points and twists that didn't serve two fairly engaging characters. It sacrificed the believable (age difference, class difference) for the unbelievable (Pretty Man). Mercy.

Book One
When I picked up this book I didn't realize it was a trilogy. Luckily book one does not end on a cliffhanger but more on a happily for now. Thorne and Dash were hot with lots of steamy scenes for your reading pleasure. I'm not sure I'll continue in the series but books two and three will go on my TBR.

Nice
This was a really good book. I love the twist from the regular versions of this. I love the power exchange. You meet the person you love in the most unconventional ways. I love how D/R stood up for himself and never backed down. I seriously read the first chapter then reread it because I was ready for the twist. It took me by surprise and I enjoyed it. The writing was great, the smexy was HAWT! And the side characters, they really didnโt concentrate on side characters in this book.

Waiting For The Sequels
After the ending of this book I scratched my head because there are to be two sequels in 2016. I cannot imagine what they will deal with because this one is so detailed and so fulfilling in bringing two complete opposites together.Thorne is a hard-driving, gorgeous (see the cover) 42-year-old closeted Atlanta workaholic and Dash (aka Riley) is a 22-year-old high-end rent boy and aspiring baker whose lifestyles and life goals could not be further apart. That is, of course, until Thorne hires Dash one Friday night. We are quick to discover that they do have something in common--terrific, sometimes kinky, and always very detailed sex. This book is filled to overflowing with as much sex as one might be able to compare to stuffing a cupcake with too much cream (oops!). But it works, because it forces Thorne and Dash to wonder what life might be for them beyond the bedroom or various positions in other rooms and over other pieces of furniture in Thorne's magnificent apartment.Their journey to love-me-love-me-not is almost tortuous, but in the end it works, or at least is starting to work. Maybe that's where the sequels are heading. I will be waiting.

Really enjoyed this
I loved the characters from page one. Thorne comes of as determined. He knows what he wants and every Friday night he wants a man to have sex with. He doesn't have the time to go out to clubs do he pays for it.When his usual Friday night 'hire' is no longer available he's sceptical about the replacement, Dash. But Dash is actually everything Thorne has been looking for.Dash is working to save money to attend school, but his new client, Thorne, won't be a hardship. In fact Dash very much enjoys his first session with Thorne. What begins as a business arrangement we have seen many times before in books could easily have become cliche but this isn't instantaneous. It's a steady build, a subtle nudge towards HEA.Thorne is brilliant portrayed as the workaholic who's forgotten what fun is.Dash is a hopeful young man who brings out the best in others.Together they make quite a combination

Perfect read x
I love Silvia Violets books...I buy before reading the blurb half the time and this one was no different...I bought this in paperback before i even bought it on my kindle....So I read it in paperback too with my own bookmark i made for it....Thorne and Dash *Riley* were perfect together...I love when the younger guy is the more dominant one even if they do switch....Riley was just so good for Thorne who was too into his work and only hired Dash to get some relief.....There work relationship was perfect but after that was even better......Dash brought Thorne out of himself and the sex scenes were so hot.....I really didn't want to finish it and am so glad there's going to be two more books....This one really is a perfect read x

How the Mighty Fall
Thorne has it all, well all that money can buy. He's an extremely successful businessman, but after the death of his lover has decided to never get involved again. Once a week on a Friday he hires a rent boy to satisfy his needs and is happy with his life, that is until his normal Friday boy leaves the agency and he's introduced to Dash. Thorne's whole character starts to change as Dash pushes Thorne into doing things he would never dream of, and without realising it Thorne falls head over heels for Dash. Though Dash tries to keep it professional, he too begins to fall just as deeply for Thorne. This is such a beautiful story, I'm off to read book 2, have to know how my guys get on

Brilliant read
LOVED the characters of Thorne and Dash. Thorne is a businessman who pays for sex once a week, Friday night is his night, and he is used to getting his own way. So he is not happy when his regular escort leaves so there will be a replacement sent. Then he meets and falls for Dash. Dash has become an escort to help pay for school. They each fall for the other but both are very afraid to admit it. So miscommunication, misunderstandings leaves them both with questions to answer.Already looking forward to reading Part 2

Wow this is a brilliant story well worth reading
Wow this is a brilliant story well worth reading, You fell in love with both if them, Dash being young, full of life, selling his body for sex to make money so he can go to college, but what a body!! then you have Thorne work work and only play on a Friday night not a good life that is until Dash enters his life, the sex between them is hot hot couldn't get enough, then you have their own private lives which Thorne does sort out, for him he needs Dash/Riley and Riley needs Thorne a perfect balance. Can't wait for the next book.
