I bought this mini drone for my kiddo (8 years old), and it has been a total hit. Setup was quick, it’s very easy to fly, and the 720p FPV camera makes it fun to see what the drone sees in real time. It’s the perfect mix of simple controls and features that keep kids (and adults) engaged. First Impressions & Setup: Right out of the box, everything was clearly labeled and intuitive. The DeeRC D20 drone comes in a great kit which includes: travel case, controller, foldable drone, 2 batteries, 2 chargers, extra propellers and instruction manual (see photo). A perfect complete kit to keep everything together and packed for traveling. The camera is adjustable for setting viewing angle as desired and takes good video and photos (see photo taken from back yard). This drone is really fun to fly indoors or outdoors in wind still conditions. Takeoff is as easy as pressing a button on the controller and landing by pressing the button again. If you prefer to fly with the sticks just push the left stick forward for takeoff and pull back to land. Doing flips is as easy as taking off, hovering at about 8 feet altitude, pushing the flip button on the controller and pushing the right stick in the direction of the desired flip. The drone will perform the flip and resume back to a hover and normal stick control. When the drone batteries get low on charge the lights will start blinking indicating you should land soon. If the drone batteries get too low the drone will land straight down. Don’t worry about flying the drone out of range of the controller because the drone will automatically land straight down from where it losses contact with the controller. Headless mode is activated by a button on the controller and is a nice feature that keeps forward, back, left and right control the same no matter the orientation of the drone. In standard mode the forward, back, left and right control reverses when you rotate the drone to facing you. This takes a little practice to get used to. This is a great starter drone to learn on without spending a lot of money. If you lose interest after a while you have not spent a lot of money and you will have had the value in fun. If you become passionate about the hobby you will want to upgrade to a drone that has GPS. Technical support from the company is great. You can talk to a live person in minutes after calling in. They will respond by email within 24 hours. I do recommend the DeeRC D20 as a great beginners drone.

This is my first and only experience with a drone, so I don't know how it compares to others. It was purchased as a gift for my 9 year old nephew. He loves it and has had a blast playing with it. I will offer my observations, but suspect this is typical for drones at this pricepoint. 1) The propeller guards aren't very useful, and fall off easily. The propellers seem to be sturdy enough to survive without them though. If you want to use the guards, I would paint them blaze orange so you can find them easier when they fall off, as they do with most crashes. We lost one almost immediately. However, after several days of nothing but crash landings the drone was still working just fine. 2) The takeoff feature seemed nice, but you will need a smooth surface of some sort. The box it comes in works fine. The drone is too small to just set in the grass, as the grass blades will interfere with the propellers. 3) The camera/video feature is lower quality and the little video we recorded was pretty choppy. There also is no audio, although that might be a good thing. 4) The days we flew the drone had a bit of wind and it struggled to overcome the breeze. I would recommend only flying it on calm days. Be sure to learn the "force kill" command on the remote to shut the drone off mid-flight if it starts to get away. We had a very close call with a pool early on, then got stuck high in a tree later that day. 5) The automatic "stunt flip" feature was a huge hit with the kids, and they were content to just get off the ground, do a flip, then crash before it got too far away. 6) 10 minute battery life may seem short, but for our purposes and lack of skill the 2 batteries lasted long enough to get our fill. Overall it's a great little toy and was a huge hit with my nephews. Well worth the cost.

Wow! What a fantastic little mini drone for novice users. With this entry level drone, you can learn to fly successfully in minutes. I took the first 10 minutes to learn the basics of the controller, to adjust the “drift” and to learn the basics of flying this drone, and then plugged in the second battery that came with the drone and the sky is the limit… let your imagination take over! Play with the drone, learn to skirt in and out of tight spaces, through obstacles, do 360’s, and whatever you can dream up. Just don’t let it get too far out of range, as it does have an approximate 90 foot range that you no longer have control. The DEERC D20 mini-Drone comes in a nice, compact carrying case loaded with the drone, the controller, 2 rechargeable batteries and charging cord, an easily read user manual and accompanying items to help you take off into space with this cool little instrument of fun. The user manual is a helpful item for a new flier to learn how to fly. It is easy to understand and gives helpful pointers to help the novice pilot in getting familiar with an entry level drone. There are two quick charging batteries for the drone, with each battery giving approximately 8-10 minutes of flight time. Having two batteries allows the user to be able to charge both and double the flight time, having charged both, and then once the first battery is exhausted, charging it while flying with the other charged battery. My drone pulled left (drifted left) initially, but with my handy-dandy little instruction manual, I quickly learned how to adjust the drone and it was able to hover nicely in place soon after. The manual instructs on how to correct drifting left, right, forward and backward, as well as how to recalibrate the entire system if ever needed. It is a simple adjustment that only took a few seconds of adjustment to correct. There are many cool features about this drone. The sleek design, the basic, entry level camera, the neat looking LED lights on the drone, and the excellent tricks that the drone has the ability to perform. For a mini-drone, it proves to be a tough unit, able to take some banging around as I was learning how to fly. It can climb approximately 70 feet (estimated) without any issue on a day with a light breeze. Be aware of trying to fly in windy day however, as this lightweight drone does not handle gusty wind very well. Pros: - Ease of use with little initial knowledge of drone flying - Easy to read, easily understood user manual - 2 batteries for the Drone, which allows for a quick trade out in order to fly twice as much without wait - A cool little compact carrying case that holds the Drone, the controller and all supplies handily - A durable, inexpensive, fun entry level mini drone capable of handling lots of maneuvers for an entry level user. Cons: -Windy days are not a friend of this drone due to the light-weight nature of the drone. Overall, this is a great, inexpensive beginner’s mini-drone, and well worth the cost. If you are considering learning how pilot a drone, let this drone be your first experience with drones. You will be surprised how easily you can let your imagination take you to the next level with this starter drone!

This is a fun little toy drone and would be a nice starter for someone. Package came with drone, remote, 2 batteries and chargers, prop guards, extra props and screwdriver. The drone itself is much smaller than I expected, which is better for flying indoors. It is very light, this is because it is made with very cheap plastic. There are 2 white LED's on the front and 2 red LED's on the back which are very bright, almost too bright. They start blinking to let you know when the battery is getting low, though mine seems to be very inconsistent. Sometimes it starts 2 minutes in and I get another 5 minutes of flight and other times it blinks at 7-8 minutes and I get less than 30 seconds of flight left. The camera is tiny with a plastic housing and is controlled manually. The prop guards snap into place on each arm and hold up to crashing well. The pop off without much force, which prevents it from snapping off and breaking. Each arm has a piece of foam glued on for "landing pads", though 2 of mine fell off the first flight. The battery slides in and snaps in place. I get about 8 minutes of "gentle" flying and about 6-7 minutes of harder flying where I am on and off the throttle a lot. The chargers are just micro USB plugins and charge in a little over an hour. The remote is plastic and has a flip up holder in the middle for your phone. I put an old iPhone 7+ in it and it fit with a case just fine. The buttons on the controller are marked and mostly easy to understand. The flip button works, most of the time. Occasionally, it decides not to do the flip and other times it works fine. The sticks are plastic, but fine for this toy drone. Be careful of the tops of the joysticks as they just pop on and off. My right one is loose and needed glue. There are 3 speeds that you can control from the controller, though I didn't notice a big difference in them. My biggest negative to this drone is there is no "emergency shut-off" button or control on the controller. When you land and hold the throttle stick down, it should turn off within a few seconds. However, it is hit or miss weather it decides to do this and more often than not, I am holding it down for 10 seconds before it turns off. It the event it crashes towards someone, there is no way to shut them off quick. I have found it is easiest to grab the drone and turn it over instead of landing. It auto shuts off if it turns over. As for the app and camera. The app was on the app store and easy to connect to the drone via WiFi. The camera is only 720p, which is advertised so I wasn't expecting much. It is ok for a picture, but forget about the video. It is just not possible to fly this FPV (flying by looking at the screen). The video lag is over a second and mixed with the low quality of the camera, I just choose not to use the camera or app. Flying line of sight is much easier with this toy. The app is very basic. I noticed that there is a button to control the speed of the drone, but if I change the speed from the controller, it does not correlate on the app. Overall though, it's still an ok drone to play around with. I flew it outside in some light wind and it just could not keep up and blew away until I could land it. It is a great one for in the house since it is so small and the cheap plastic-ness of it holds up to multiple crashes. If anything, it is a fun toy for the cats to try and chase around, just be safe since it doesn't cut the props off quickly.

First off, let’s put things in perspective. You can buy a DJI Matrice 600 Pro for $5,700 or this DEERC D20 Mini drone for around $60 and many in between. You’re going to get what you pay for. With that in mind, read on to see what you get with this drone. So, I’m relatively new to drone flying, but this is the 4th drone I’ve added to my collection. I spent close to $200 on my main drone, but I spent $55 or less on each of my other three. Of those three, this one is favored by my kids. The appeal I think is in the simplicity and ease of use. Compared to the other two, this one has the same basic features, but with fewer buttons and controls to confuse the kids. The trim functionality on all three of these drones took a bit for the kids to pick up on, but this is necessary for every drone without GPS. This trim functionality on the DEERC D20 Mini is easier to manage and set than the other two. These lightweight drones are very susceptible to wind, so flying outside on a windy day isn’t going to be much fun, but for flying around the house, you can’t beat this. We had so much fun racing this around the house, and my gold retriever had fun chasing it. Another bonus you don’t often see in these mini drones is the ability to fold makes it easier to store than the others I have as well. This drone comes with two batteries, each offering about 10 minutes of flight time, for a total of 20 minutes. They will charge in a little over an hour so if you start one charging while the other is in use, you can fly again after a break of an hour. The headless feature is a must for the kids, as they seem to struggle giving direction relative to the drone’s orientation. Headless allows you to control the direction of the drone relative to the person. So right is always to the person’s right, left the person's left, forward goes away from the person and back come back towards the person. The direction the drone is facing is irrelevant. To summarize, this is a great drone for kids or adults that are just wanting to try a drone without investing a ton of money. I have a load of fun flying this drone indoors with the kids. Highly recommend this for what I’ve described. If you looking for more, prepare to spend more money. PROS: Inexpensive Easy to operate 2 batteries for less downtime Camera included for photos and Video. Kids will have fun with selfies CONS: Very lightweight, so not ideal for outside if there is any wind Short-range of about 40 yards

I recently purchased two of the DeeRC D20 drones. One for a grandson, and one for myself. I have had years of experience building and competing with R/C cars, fixed wing aircraft, and helicopters. I've never owned a drone before. My thoughts were to start out simple before advancing further, as I did in the past. This is a great drone for anyone starting out. It is full of features that are seen on more expensive drones. The default setting is mode 2, as used with helicopters here in the U.S. My skills are somewhat rusty, but I'm sure they will come back quickly. So far the weather hasn't cooperated much until yesterday so I had limited flight indoors. Indoor flight is very safe. Use the propeller guards just in case! Outdoor flights yesterday were very smooth. Due to my rusty skills, I didn't want to chance flying in any breeze above 5 mph, which was the norm over the last week. You can use the controller for all basic functions. Using the app on your phone opens up much more. The app works very well with one small bug. In locking in the compass/gyro you must move both control levers to the 5 o'clock position simultaneously for mode 2, NOT the 7 o'clock position. The video on the app, and the written manual are in conflict. My flights averaged about 7 minutes on either battery. There is a warning that sounds, and blinks when you have about one minute of flight time remaining. I usually land right away, as you will notice a decrease in power if there is a breeze, and it shortens the time to recharge. I'm not expecting much from the camera. Many drones in this price point don't even have one. Controlability is very good. For now, I've flown within a 100 ft. radius, and max altitudes of 50 or 60 feet. All good! Another tip to pass on, is when installing the prop guards, one tab may come a tad loose when you are clicking in the other. Give both tabs a squeeze to insure they are seated properly. Is it worth it? I would give it more stars if I could. Well worth what you will spend for something to learn on, and have fun with! I noticed that it is sold in a version without the case. Get the case! It's nice to have, and is decent quality as well.

Cute little drone. This drone would resemble, in size and shape, the DJI/Ryze Tello. Appearance, however is where the similarities end. In this price (about half) though, this is a decent little drone. It hovers reasonably well for a drone with no optical sensors. It drifts a little up or down but not too bad. The trim is easy to adjust and this drone does a decent job of holding its position with only very minor touches to the sticks. I will say, unless you are a bump-stick pilot, the controls are super sensitive and take very small movement to control. While that makes the drone very responsive, I like a bit more stick movement to drone movement ratio. With this stick sensitivity, the low speed is plenty for indoors. The lights on this drone are pretty cool. Very bright white lights in the front and red lights in the rear. This is great for being able to tell the orientation of the the drone. The camera is surprisingly sharp and, while you’re not going to get super smooth videos, the image quality is quite good for this level of drone. One thing I don’t like is the phone holder. I have an iPhone 11 in a case and it will not fit in the controller. I’m pretty sure it would if I took the case off my phone, but that’s a pain. Flying outside, for a little lightweight drone, this thing is really quite good. I flew it with 5-7 mph wind (anemometer checked) and especially in the 2 higher speeds, it handled it quite well and was able to fly into the wind at a reasonable pace. I wasn’t able to try all the extra “tricks” other than flips. The flips work well, but be aware that the drone rises up about 4-5 feet to initiate its flips. This does protect it from hitting the ground but just be sure you’re not to close up to a tree. The other things like verbal and gesture commands, waypoints, etc. should be tried on a more windless day. At this price, there is obviously no image stabilization, but the image quality is really surprisingly good. Maybe a couple things that could be improved but all in all, a pretty fun little drone.

My 12-year-old got this, and he loves it. Very easy for kids to learn how to use, charges well and flys great. It is an entry-level drone, so it doesn't cope with very strong winds, and the pictures it takes are a little grainy, but honestly, for the price, it's a fantastic starter drone for kids to experiment with when learning.

Great little drone, however the smallest knock and one of the propellers got damaged. My daughter saved for it and only got to use it for like 10 mins. Customer service when we first raised it was excellent, very responsive. But they sent the wrong part to fix it and I haven't heard back since. So probably not the best for kids.

Purchased as a gift and I’m impressed with how many features this little drone has! The design is sleek, the camera quality is great for a kids’ toy, and the controls (including voice and gesture) make it fun and easy to use. Love that it comes with two batteries for extra playtime. Delivery was fast, and it feels like a high-quality gift that’s going to be a huge hit.

First use. Followed instructions and calibrated on a flat surface. I pressed the button to lift it/take off. It immediately flew off at an angle, the remote/wifi disconnected and the drone flew off into a paddock and I couldn't stop it or get it to land. It was lost within 30 seconds and believe it's faulty. Hoping for a full return.

My husband loves this although the camera doesn’t work
