A Great Book With a Wonderful Message Thrown In
To read my complete review, go to:[...]I eagerly anticipate Jill Shalvis book release days. I can’t wait to meet her new characters and see what kinds of trouble they can get themselves into. Jill’s characters are special because they aren’t “cookie cutter” people. That is one of the arguments that anti-romance book people use frequently when they try to make the point that romance literature is not up to the standard of the other genres. I have actually had first hand experience with this at a book club Christmas party a few weeks ago. Everyone was name dropping these “exclusive” book titles that they were reading. When I told them I was looking forward to the new releases by Jill Shalvis and Kristan Higgins, they just stared at me and passed over my comment. They act as if reading is suppose to be a kind of torture that they need to endure to be well-read. I think it is sad that these people are missing out on tremendous stories that whisk the reader away to another time or place. They allow us to become other people, if only for a moment. It is my strong belief that reality 100% of the time is not good for anyone and “these kind of books” make life a happier, sunnier place.Enough about me and on to this incredible book. This book is character driven, and they are amazing characters at that. They have a depth that few authors can achieve and they face things that aren’t “fixed” at the end of the book. You know these people will continue to face their demons long after the book is over, but they will be able to do it together. Plus they will continue to have mind-blowing lovemaking sessions that are constructed creatively and, at times, with lots of humor in this book. The romance would definitely be rated an R+.However, there is one part of this book that took it from a strong 4 rating to a 5 rating for me. There is a scene in the book when Bailey and Lily get overwhelmingly drunk while waiting for Hudson and Aidan to return from a rescue call. When Hudson arrives to take her back to his place for the night, he refuses to make love to her because she is intoxicated. He knows that a woman cannot give consent to sex when she is intoxicated. Hudson and Aidan even have a discussion about how she is off-limits that night.Jill Shalvis, you are an amazing woman to include this in your book.In other books that I have read, the mental state of the woman is never addressed and it is considered sexy if a man loses control and “takes” her. But it is not sexy and it is not legal. In my other life, when I am not Ruby Lee, part of my job is to educate people about consent for sex. We teach them that if a person is intoxicated or under the influence of anything, they can’t give consent. It is a difficult message for some to get when our culture has condoned it for so long. Another part of my job is to work with those that have been assaulted when they were intoxicated. It is heartbreaking and something that can never be truly repaired. So in closing, READ THIS BOOK. It is sweet and funny with great characters that you will love until the end and after.I am counting the hours until the next Jill Shalvis release day.Review copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Loved it!!
Anyone who has known me for any period of time knows I’m obsessed with Jill Shalvis’s books. I will recommend these books to anyone because she has never disappointed me in any way. If you go to read any of her books make sure that you have nothing planned. You will start to read and never be able to put the book back down until it’s finished. No the little sticky tabs do not come with the books but I love to place them anywhere there is a good part that I want to go back to over, and over.. Ok enough ranting and raving about how wonderful Mrs. Shalvis is and onto the book.Oh the feels I had for this book were amazing. Let’s start with Hudson.. Mr. I can handle anything anyone throws at me. Mr. I don’t need sleep. Mr. I need to take care of everyone and anyone and not myself. What’s not to love about a Mr. Alpha man who can ski like he was born to do it and is a cop on the side??? Of course he comes with tons of baggage his mom is a little crazy. She isn’t always in the present which makes things certainly interesting. Apparently she’s been this way his whole life. Jacob and Hudson learned young to take care of their mom and themselves. Until they move in with the other Kincaids. After they move in at Cedar Ridge Jacob and Hudson vow to move out together at 18 and take care of themselves. When it comes time to leave Hudson decides he wants to stay and Jacob still wants to leave. They have a big blow up in which Jacob leaves and Hudson stays. Needless to say this eats at Hudson in a bad way. Until he runs into Bailey.. She is so bright he almost needs sunglasses just to look at her.I thought I was going to have a super hard time with Bailey’s character due to her overcoming such a bad illness. I’ve been touched by people close to me struggling with some of the same sort of things and it made her character even more real. Bailey loves bright things and art. She’s been hired to a do a mural at Cedar Ridge… much to Hudson’s dismay. She’s never done a mural this big but it is on her list of things to do. Bailey has had a tough life of never ending doctor appointments and coddling. She’s tired of being coddled and asked if she’s okay all the time. Which makes Hudson the perfect distraction.. just a one night stand.. or two.. or three who’s counting?? I loved how Bailey was so out going and so forward with everything. How she just loved life not matter what got thrown at her. A sneak peek into the book..“Bay.” He thunked his forehead on the door.“Because the truth is I know you don’t have time for anyone, even The One. You’ve got a full plate. And I don’t want to be someone’s…something, a something that they don’t have room for on their plate. That would make me…broccoli.” She shuddered. And no one wants to be broccoli, you know.”I have to say I love Char the Kincaids mom matter of fact I love the whole family. The dynamic they have is hilarious and wonderful all at the same time. I love how they accepted Hudson and his brother even though they didn’t have to. They even accepted “the other woman” aka Hudson’s mom. Who is hilariously crazy in this I know it’s an emotional thing to deal with someone who’s not quite there but Jill Shalvis displayed it in such a wonderfully honest way. When Hudson face times his mom it’s priceless.I would recommend 100% I love all of Jill Shalvis’s books…

A wonderful second book in this series.
I really loved this story. It involves Hudson Kincaid (Hud), police officer and head of the ski patrol at the struggling ski resort called Cedar Ridge that he and his siblings own. Bailey Moore, fresh off of cancer treatment, is also fresh off a break up. She has a list of things she wants to do/see since getting a good check up. Her only sister, Ashley died on Devil's Face, a treacherous peak of the Rocky Mountains. This happens to be near Cedar Ridge. Worlds (of course!) collide. I know this description doesn't sound like a book with a lot of humor, but it does. The characters felt real and well developed. Has all the components required for a fun, sexy read. Just the right amount of sexy time. Shalvis' writing flows easily. I loved all the secondary cast of characters. A lot of family teasing, caring and love. Makes me want to live there, even though I dislike snow! I can't wait until the next installment.... Jacob's story. I recommend this series!

Romance at its best
The second part of the Cedar Ridge trilogy is set in the Colorado Rockies. The story of another brother Hudson and finding the love of his life Bailey. She has been battling cancer for the last decade and is commissioned to paint a mural of Hudson’s family at their ski resort in the mountains. Sparks fly and will they end up together? I’m interested to see the story of Hudson’s twin Jacob in book 3 as he is estranged from his family and hasn’t been in touch for years.5 star read again from one of my favourite authors.

Heart-warming
The books by Jill Shalvis always sent you to a wonderful little haven. The places she creates always feel home to me. For me it started with Lucky Harbor and now Cedar Ridge.Bailey and Hudson both had a difficult past and they are struggling looking into the future. I really liked them together and how the feelings got more and more thorough. They were so sweet and passionate about each other, enjoying their times together. The Kincaid family is just gold. I really had to laugh about their jokes between each other, as well as them standing together and always being there for each other. There are hilarious moments and as well moment which makes your heart melt.

Doesn't Get Any Better!!!
Another in the Cedar Ridge series by Jill Shalvis. - each one better than the last! Bailey & Hud's story is funny, sassy, steamy, bittersweet and completely engaging. Despite my initial concerns about this story being a bit of a ""downer", it was handled with grace and honesty. Not depressing at all. - on the contrary, haven't laughed out loud at such entertaining dialogue, in recent memory. The only issue I have with this book and the author is the fact the next story won't be available until March. Too far away! If you are looking for a nice warm and fuzzy story for these cold winter days, look no further! This is the one!

Inattendu
A vos après-skis!

Jill Shalvis did it again
I loved this book even more than I liked the first one in this new series. I especially liked that all the characters had their own stories, some of them we know from the prevoius book, some are coming. They are fun. The brothers have a very close relationship which Jill can describe very real.I laughed a lot during reading but it is no surprise with Jill's books. I can't wait for the next book to read!
