Genuine Sony Battery. (I was suspicious...)
There's not much to say about a battery, but I just wanted to drop my 2¢ for anybody who, like me, thought this price looked too good to be true for a genuine battery, and is suspicious it might be an aftermarket or even counterfeit battery. I'm accustom to Sony spare batteries costing a pretty penny. This battery is certainly the real deal -- Genuine Sony -- shipped in that annoying blister packaging with all the cardboard inserts. (For what it's worth, mine came from Amazon seller "Dependable Resource." Direct from Amazon wasn't a choice at the time, but is now. I can't vouch for any of the other sellers on here.) I felt this was worth mentioning because the price seemed a little too good to be true, and the photo Amazon was using at the time looked a little faded and... phony. And a quick scan of "that auction site" revealed a bunch of 3rd party and outright fake Sony batteries. So I was suspicious. So, good going Amazon and "Dependable Resource," whomever you are. Good to have one or two of these little spares on hand, because they don't last long in the TX9, and they seem to have a limited shelf life after topping off (compared to the battery in my Panasonic LX5, which seems to last forever).

and it's working like a charm
When I first got my Sony DSC-TX20 camera, I bought an extra battery to supplement the included one (to ensure I had enough "juice" for the whole day when on vacation). Having both batteries fully charged has gotten me through every vacation day since then. For some reason, one of those two batteries completely stopped working about 2 months ago. I bought this one to replace it, and it's working like a charm. I had read somewhere to ensure you get a *SONY*-brand battery instead of the very similar-looking generic one. I followed that recommendation and have been very happy. (I'd recommend storing your camera when not in use--overnight or for longer periods--withOUT the battery in it. This battery seems to hold its charge much longer when not in use if it is outside the camera housing.)

IT'S THE REAL THING
When I bought my Sony Cyber-shot point and shoot camera, it came with only one battery. I wanted a backup so I wouldn't be out of power on a picture-taking excursion for more than the few seconds it takes to change batteries. I tried to buy another Sony battery, but at the time I could only find non-Sony batteries made for Sony. Since they were fairly inexpensive, I bought one. It lasted roughly a year before it died while my original Sony battery is still going strong. When I went to Amazon looking for a new battery I found Sony was available and immediately bought one. While the price, roughly $20, was roughly 3 times what I paid for the non-Sony battery, I figured it was worth it. I've only had it for close to 2 months now, so I can't speak to its longevity--but I'm hoping in spite of what another reviewer said about it dying out after 20 or so re-charges. If I find it's not up to snuff anytime in the future, I'll post an update. Here's hoping you don't hear from me again about this battery ever again!

Exactly as shown
I received the battery in the mail on Wednesday. I was shocked to see that it came in Sony packaging and that it only cost me $15.36. At the end of last year I started getting an error on my camera that said "battery incompatible ". It was the exact battery that came with the Cybershot camera I have. I took it to Best Buy (which is where I purchased it from over 2 years ago) and the Greek Squad worker saw the message and told me it was the motherboard. I have a degree in Information Systems and once I heard that I was like I might as well purchase another camera. I had a backup camera so I was not quite in a rush but something told me not to throw away the Cybershot. Finally a couple of weeks ago I took it into a place and was shocked to see that by simply getting another battery it would work. But every place I went to or looked up the battery cost was $40-$50. That's almost half way to a new camera. I got on to Amazon and looked for the battery and chose this company because of their high rating and for their price. By finding them that saved me from having to come out of pocket for a decent camera that still has some good use.

Does the job
I bought a second battery before a trip, having learned on previous vacations what a bummer it is for your camera to die in the middle of something beautiful. The order was painless, and everything arrived on time. I charged both batteries- this one and the one that came with my Sony DSC-TX5 - overnight. The first battery lasted about 2.75 days and a few hundred photos. On the third day, I discovered the camera's panorama feature, and the battery died a few hours later. This is no coincidence because the later panorama proved itself to be a battery life vampire. Over the next few days, I charged one battery overnight each night and never ran into an occasion where both batteries were dead, even though I was taking hundreds of photos a day. On the heaviest usage day, the freshly charged battery lasted from about 4:30 AM to about 1:30 PM, and I was grateful to have brought the backup battery along. I had taken over 400 photos, many of which were panoramas, and several short videos. I swapped batteries and made it through the rest of the day. One other note- once I arrived, I was charging the batteries overnight in South American power outlets. I didn't notice any issues caused by the voltage difference, but it's possible that this affected performance in ways of which I was unaware.

I went to the retailer that sold me the camera to get a new battery. The retailer was unable to find one for me. I went on line and in 5 minutes found what I needed on Amazon and placed the order. The battery arrived brand new and exactly the same as the original. Charged it up and its working great.
