Vasectomy: The Cruelest Cut of All (the Modern Medical Nightmare of Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome)

Vasectomy is a DANGEROUS life-altering procedure!
This is so misleading it's scary. Did you know that up to 35% of men who have vasectomies experience chronic, untreatable, pain? How do I know? I am one. It wasn't until after the procedure and I did the research that I found out what awaited me and then experienced. They say you won't see a difference in your orgasm, you won't notice a difference in your ejactulations, you won't have a loss of libido, etc. etc... It's all a lie. You won't find a deviation from the status-quo talking points unless you really dig. But the medical studies are firm and available to anyone willing to look. Vasectomy is straight up mutilation. Run for the hills boys. Do NOT do this. Under no circumstances. Up to 50% of men have pain issues up-to 20 years post procedure. They won't tell you that. It won't matter, you're long gone. They got their money. Not only that, but when you return all that time later, you have no leg (figuratively) to stand on. They'll blame your problems on everything else. Do your research. Dig into the issue. DONT DO THE SNIP! It's simply not worth it.Fantastic book, with tons of resources. Wish I would have seen this before I had my procedure. I'm only 8 weeks out and this has been the worst 8 weeks of my life. I've already scheduled a reversal and can only hope that it can restore 80-90% of my prior life. I have high doubts, but I'll do anything at this point.

LIved it.
I suggest this book for anyone considering vasectomy as it explains many things I should have understood before I went ahead with it.The book outlines well how the system functions, how it reacts to vasectomy and gives possible ways of fixing the problem. Through it all he quotes studies which back up his explanations and conclusions.Understanding how the system functions is important, and alone should draw guys away from the procedure, and leaves me curious as to how urologists can sell it.I can't say enough, I've spent a year of my life and a small fortune correcting for this mistake. Read this book, consider his arguments. There are logical reasons why the public isn't aware of how dangerous this procedure is, he covers some of them. The most important: guys don't typically talk about their parts, even when they hurt. They are doing other men and society a disservice. Correctly states that the largest human cost is from the poor and those in poor countries, as they have no other option than to suffer.

Misleading Information
Given this book by a patient who was considering a vasectomy. As a practitioner of vasectomies (over 1000) this is very misleading. The techniques described are outdated, the statistics incorrect and it lacks discussion of modern ways to address post vasectomy. But what would you expect from a psychiatrist whose probably never examined a scrotum in his professional life.

Should be required reading in Med School
Dr. Bowins shows with hard data and medical citations that vasectomy is far more dangerous than reported by urologists who profit extensively by misreporting of data and understating the risks.

All the research you need in one place! AVOID a vasectomy
If you are considering a vasectomy then this is truly, to use the cliché, a must read!It does tend to lift the lid of the myths that the NHS, GP's & surgeries love to throw at you.Simple & safe procedure? Mmmm I think not! This great book explains why it is not in medical, yet simple and easy to understand ways.No long term risks? Mmm I think not! Sadly the NHS severely downplay the risks from PVP / PVPS or Post Vasectomy Pain. This book explains clearly the vasectomy procedure and all its attendant risks. Don't forget either it isn't written by a sufferer but by a medic, a Dr, who has had the guts and nerves to break free from medical mantra of "vasectomy is safe".I wish I had read this before the vasectomy, in fact I wish I'd done a lot of research and not just believed the NHS but then surely the caring medical profession wouldn't harm you would they......read this book! You will save yourself a lot of pain in the long run and a lot of money, far in excess of its purchase price.PVP is agony, trust me. Read the book and avoid the safe and simple trap where there are long term risks.Hats off to you Dr Bowins from breaking away from your mantra loving colleagues.

This book saved me from making a big mistake
Also here in Germany vasectomy is getting more and more popular. No wonder my wife urged me to deal with the topic. In the internet I could hardly find any critical aspects about the procedure. I got suspisious as I read an arcticle in an interne forum from a guy who was really suffering with the long term effects of vasectomy. The book explains very well the physiological effects (damages) of vasectomy. For me with a scientific background it was easy to follow the discussions of the author. I checked some of the primary literature and from my perspective the author really did a good job. Beside the fact, that I now would never ever go for vasectomy, I aditionally gained some new knowledge about the construction and function of my reproductive organs. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the side effects of vasectomy.
