This book is a welcomed addition to the history of race in the American West. Sarah Bickford's journey is truly fascinating. Laura J. Arata has woven a brilliant narrative and it was a very enjoyable read. I give this book a 10/10! I will definitely be reading it again!

This was such an interesting, timely and extensively researched book. The author did a wonderful job of bringing alive a fascinating and inspirational woman that has previously been overlooked by history. This is a must read for anyone interested in American history.

Always like to read about little-known people who were trailblazers. Appreciate the research and commitment to the author to craft this excellent story.
