Great Smart Dimmer for String Lights
Got this to make my 48ft string lights dimmable via Google Home. Almost all of our lights and switches in our home are smart devices, so this was a perfect addition to make our string lights smart as well. Setup would be easy for most, however, because their app is just a rebranded version of Smart Life, and we have other products that use the Smart Life app, we had to reset this product in the Smart Life app instead of the Treatlife App to get it to work with Google Home and keep our other Smart Life products working as well. If you do not already have any other devices that use Smart Life app, no need to worry, however, if you do, just set this up with that app rather than the suggested Treatlife app (which is actually Smartlife app rebranded to their company).Product works great and the dimming is perfect for these LED string lights. Price is a little more steep than other string light dimmers that use a remote, however, the ability to add this into your smart home and connect to Google, Alexa or just control via you phone makes it worth the few extra bucks over a traditional string light dimmer.

RV asset!
I love how easy this dimmer works. I have it outside for the lights around our rv. I set up the app and can easily turn the lights on, dim or turn them off without going back outside. The remote access is great!!

Quality Build, Easy to Install, Setup, and Use. Great Buy!
So good that I ordered a second for another set of lights, and may order a third! For those of you wondering, this does have a physical switch / dimmer you can use without your phone. There's a single button that you tap to turn the lights on and off, or hold down to dim/brighten (it starts going one direction until it maxes out then goes the other direction).Wifi setup was very simple, and, while I haven't looked into the fancier settings yet, the basic controls on the app more than meet my needs of manual on/off and a brightness slider. I've made use of the timer feature as well to make sure we don't forget to turn the lights off after a night of partying. The construction seems solid and pretty rugged. I expect it will last a long time, even outside. I also like that it provides a slot to hook onto a screw or nail for easy wall mounting. My one suggested update is to have a longer power cord. Unless you have an outlet within about a foot of where you want this switch to be, you'll need an extension. In my particular scenario, we had to run an extension along the side of the house. That extension goes to a triple outlet staked into the ground because I need at least 2 switches at this location and want to keep the connections off the ground to avoid potential issues with puddles. However, if I connect this switch directly to that staked outlet it will only be about 1.5 feet off the ground, which is pretty inconvenient for using the physical button. This means that I need to either live with that; buy and install another 3-6 ft outdoor extension, causing a setup of extension -> landscape outlet -> extension -> switch -> extension -> lights; mount the switch and leave the outlet hanging (ghetto and probably not 100% weather safe); or, hopefully, find a different cheap outdoor splitter that can be mounted to the wall right beneath the switch. I feel like the power cord should be 3-4 ft, which is long enough to go from the floor, where most extension cords reside, to a normal & convenient height to use the button.

Loses light on/off schedule if it is unplugged/losses power.
Not sure if I have a defective unit but if it loses power the schedule of lights on/off seems to get cleared. Since you set that up in the application on your phone this was a little unexpected. Not a big deal but a little annoying. Other than that it works well and would buy it again.

Great outdoor dimmer
Dimming of outdoor string lights is essential to control the outdoor vibe, especially with multiple strings that can be bright and harsh. I was using a tabletop lamp dimmer duct-taped into a baggie and tucked under an eve. Definitely not optimal and potentially dangerous. It was time to find an outdoor-rated dimmer. I didn't think I needed any "smart home" functionality, I mean, it's just a dimmer, right? But man is this thing fun! Alexa integration works great. Name the plug anything you want "eg terrace, patio, pool, etc.) and say "Alexa, turn on patio." "Alexa, set patio to 55 percent." And the like. But really, the app is even better! After all, you'll be outside with your phone while you're enjoying the lighting. The app's home page is simple, just an on/off button and a dim level "slider" that will dim in real time (lights dim as you move the slider, not after you stop moving it) in increments of 1%. Within the app you also have the option to set upper and lower dim range limits in case you have dimmable LEDs that tend to flicker when too dim. When you turn off the lights the dimmer does a "soft off" quick fade. Awesome addition to our outdoor hangout area.IMPORTANT TIP: When pairing and setting up the dimmer, follow the PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS that come in the box, NOT the steps in the app. The app is more generic to all of Treatlife's products and does not contain critical steps specific to this plug. Setup is very easy but you will not get it on the network without the printed steps.

Worked great. For a day. Then it didn't work anymore.
I attempted to use this device for some outdoor string lights.Set up was easy and quick, and I was able to set the timer on them easily using the Treatlife app on my phone. I was also able to integrate it with Alexa fairly easily at first. Dimming feature was simple enough, and even dimming them through voice commands to Alexa worked great. After the first full day of use, though, the plug (and lights plugged in to them) kept showing up as offline/disconnected. I reset (and unplugged/re-plugged), and they worked fine, until later in the day when they went offline/were disconnected again. This happened over and over - the device would be online and functional for perhaps half the day, then go offline/get disconnected/be entirely undiscoverable. This was quite the hassle, as the outlet I have the device plugged in to is quite high up in an awning on my back deck, so I'd need to bring out the ladder to reset/unplug. When the device is offline, Alexa can't do anything and only physically fiddling with the device itself would get it back online (for part of a day, before it disconnected yet again).I know my wifi signal in the yard and on the back deck is good, and I have a mesh point just inside the back door less than 15 feet from the device itself. My wifi lets me check the strength of signals to connected devices, and the 2.4ghz signal to this device is consistently strong - it just doesn't want to stay connected.I'll likely just ditch this thing, and try another Alexa/Wifi-compatible device, while also buying a simple remote-controlled device as a back up. While remote-control devices rarely have Alexa compatibility, at least I know I can use the remote to control it from a distance as desired, rather than having to pull out the ladder again to fix this one when it doesn't want to turn off or on.

Super easy to include in home network!
I am a huge fan of Treatlife products! In my opinion they are A+They are easy to setup and stay hooked up to my home network; even after a power outage! I have had poor experiences with other namebrand Alexa based devices that often need attention after an outage or have remained unused for awhile. Not so with this product, they seem to be self healing, although that is not in the description.Initially, I was skeptical because of the price, but have been very pleasantly surprised at the quality and ease of use and setup of all the Treatlife products I have purchased; from bulbs to dimmers, wall switches to outside plugs. I continue to expand the use of Treatlife devices and have not been dissappointed at all.I have a Comcast router with 6 pods around my 2600 sq ft one level home, every Treatlife product, including the ones I use on the lania, garage and even outside to keep their connection and work perfectly! The best part is I don't have to assign them a network, they automatically join the 2.4 so there are no worries about signal strength.Alexa immediately recognizes the devices and will include them without having to go through "discovery" once they join the network. Just another convenience of this product.I can't recommend highly enough! Try them and you'll be a fan too!

So good so far
This wifi plug/dimmer works well once you get it working. I am using it for a chandelier in my gazebo and I can dim the lights using the app. The only minor complaint was that it took forever for the plug to identify my router and took several attempts to set it up. I pretty much ended up putting the plug right beside my modem/router combo (Homehub3000) before it was able to find the wifi. At one point, I thought I was going to return it as it wasn't working. The box came with a QR code to download the Treatlife app, so that was pretty easy. The next thing was finding the exact description if the plug itself which shows up as outdoor dimmer. Not sure why it couldn't find my wifi as it was in the same room but not right beside it at first.Once set up, it works great and it was easily added to Alexa. I can program alexa to turn it on or off with phrases of my choosing or instruct her to set it at a specific brightness. Its been out there in the rain a few times and still working!

Highly recommended, but check plug orientation to confirm suitability for your setup
Overall, for the price paid, functionality, build quality, and ease-of-use, I give this product a good recommendation, and would suggest others to try it. However, I deducted a star on the installation for the following reasons:1) It would have been nice to choose a plug option that sticks straight out or turned 90 degrees or angled in some way, as the full downward orientation of this plug will either block the other plug port in most outlets (as shown in my photo), or as in most weather protected outdoor outlets such as mine shown in the photos, it will bump into the housing and not fit within the housing if attempting to plug into the bottom plug. Also, because of the orientation of the plug combined with the thickness of the wire used, I cannot easily route the wire out the bottom of the weather housing of my outdoor outlet, which forces me to cut a hole in the side and seal it after if I am to keep this switch outdoors permanently. I am hesitant to penalize Treatlife for this design decision, as I can foresee many other scenarios where this plug/cable arrangement would work perfectly. It unfortunately does not work as well for me, but it is not the end of the world. It still functions, just not as clean of a setup as I would like.2) The Treatlife application took quite a bit of time to figure out how to connect it to my Google Home. The instructions may have been outdated, as many of the areas the instructions point to, were either renamed, relocated, or removed entirely from the Google Home android app, so it did take a bit of fiddling for me to figure out how to connect it. In the end, I was able to get everything connected, and I am now able to control the switch with either the Treatlife Android app, or with my Google Home App.Overall, I am satisfied with this switch and do recommend it for others, as long as the plug and cable arrangement is fully compatible for their application.
