I love this album! It took me a while to get used to its rhythms and to the various tracks, but now that I have, I listen to it frequently.Pelican Drag is a perfect example of the kind of jazz that appeals to me: smooth, sensuous, slinky, melodious and free. Many people prefer the John Coltrane school of jazz, but if you like your jazz "mellow," I would definitely buy this CD if I were you. Bigard was a musician who played often with Duke Ellington, and listening to this album, it is easy to tell they had similar styles in music, but much harder to tell which influenced the other the most.
