Eternal

The artwork is amazing, somewhat like Davide Gianfelice’s work on the first few issues of the Northlanders. It has a great Nordic flavor, with the clean lines of good children’s literature.The protagonist is a warrior woman, in a Viking world of ghosts and magic.The story is somewhat disconnected and lacks overall coherency, a set of episodes/vignettes are linked together, and you get the feeling that there are parts missing, maybe things which glue things together. You get the overall sense of what is supposed to be happening, but you are left feeling as if there were some random parts removed.

I bought this based on the cover art which looked beautiful and ethereal and the description of the story which sounded amazing. Unfortunately I found the story to be a bit...disjointed. I know what the author was trying to say, I get the story, but it almost felt like it was missing a few pieces, some background or connecting pieces that would have helped me connect to the characters. the artwork was nice, but at times it felt repetitive, and not in a flash-back/forward sort of way which is what I think they were going for. Overall it was nice, but maybe just not quite what I was expecting. It was also much shorter than I expected (which may explain the above). Also, I don't know why this is happening, but the books I've ordered on Amazon always seem to be slightly damaged--either the spine dented (like with this book) or pages bent and slight water damage. Really disappointing.

A great story about a kick-ass viking woman, loved the ending.

A great story of revenge on Earth and beyond. Set in the time of Vikings, a woman leads a group of shieldmaidens on a mission to destroy an evil wizard. The art is amazing and the story moves along at a decent pace. The only problem I have with this book is that part of it was printed upside down. I assume it wasn't done that way on purpose, but no other reviews mention it, so I'm thinking it might be just my copy that is like this.

Excellent art and interesting story
