Whee!
Wheee!I'll be honest. I never read nor cared about the comic book on which this was based. Most Marvel fans are the same as me on this, I suspect. So no one really cares that they made major changes to a comic book story that was just a cheap attempt to cash in on the manga craze anyway. The result is pure awesomesauce.I'm not crazy about the fact that they changed the setting from Japan to "San Fransokyo," but other than that, this is a rousing humdinger of a movie that feels like a perfect blend of Disney and Marvel with just a dash of Pixar thrown in. The personalities of the supporting characters are a bit stock, but extremely well-done stock.Of course, it's a CGI movie, so you can count on the 3D being mathematically perfect.

This Region Free 3D version from the UK played fine on my Region 1 player
Since the powers that be don't or won't offer a USA- North American Region 1/A Blu-ray 3D version of Big Hero 6, I took a chance and bought this UK import which is suppose to be a "region free" set. I have a Samsung 55" Smart TV with 3D capability along with a Samsung Home Theatre Blu-ray DVD/3D capable player both purchased in 2013. I popped in the Blu-ray 3D disk, set my smart TV to 3D, enabled my 3D glasses and selected English. The disc played flawlessly with excellent picture quality and wonderful 3D effects. So, if you're in the USA or Region 1 and are looking to purchase this movie with both 2D and 3D disc's.......it played on my system perfectly. As for the movie.......... it's another wonderful Disney product and won't disappoint.

Purchased with a grudge!
Okay, I finally broke down and bought the 3D import of this film. (And I'm REALLY ticked-off at Disney for their stupid, ridiculous, profit-less, INSULTING decision NOT to release their 3D offerings on Blu-ray 3D in the U.S. - a slap in the face to the patrons in their home country ... the folks who, in the greater part, MADE Disney sucessfull. After a lifetime, this decision has totally affected my relationship with that company. Hey Disney, my wallet will ever remember this insult!) Good movie, the 3D seems excellent ... just like in the theaters. (And no, I won't apologize for the rant!)

Good Show, but...
I like the movie, however, it is hard to swallow a nice man who teaches and mentors countless young minds, serving society, and loves his daughter so much that when he loses her in what he understood to be a very high risk experiment is willing to destroy the world and everybody else's daughters and sons in revenge. The movie failed in Character Consistency in the storyline. Other than that, it was a moving story between the love of two brothers, and the critical need for faithful friends, and for that - 5 stars.

This movie is a great find that my husband and I love
This movie is a great find that my husband and I love, as well as the children we've seen watching it (nieces and nephews). The plot is emotional, funny, exciting, and everything you'd expect from a Disney Studios film. The story is VERY loosely based on a comic story, but that isn't strong enough of a connection for someone to go read after watching this.As for the Blu-Ray itself, the formatting basically opens up directly in the movie, and if you want to click to the previews included, you can, but they don't start automatically like normal. Nice!

Robo nurse
A cgi cartoon movie. This is actually another Marvel comics movie. But it's based on a marvel comic so obscure hardly anyone will be aware of that. And it doesn't tie in at all to any of the live action marvel films. In an oriental city, where robotic technology is more advanced than we know, young prodigy Hiro is brilliant but directionless. He gets an offer of a lifetime when he invents something major. But when tragedy strikes, he finds himself in the possession of Baymax, a strange robot designed as a nurse. But Baymax might be just what he needs to find the truth about the tragedy and what he really wants from life...Don't just stick your kids in front of this as it's a cartoon, as there are some mature themes here, all about grief and loss, so it isn't really for the under sevens. The design and animation grabs your attention right from the off. With a well realised city and some superb character design. Animation of this kind has come so far in depicting humans. It does have a lot to do set up wise, so it never really gets going till about twenty minutes in.Initially the character comedy between Hiro and Baymax doesn't feel anything special. And although he has a whole group of supporting characters as friends, some of them aren't as well developed as the others. However, this does just then become really quite watchable. It also manages some genuine and strong emotion that will get a response out of you, and a plot that you might predictable actually is anything of the kind. So don't pre judge it.It thus becomes a very entertaining ride, with characters you do find yourself caring about, and as a result it's a thoroughly worthwhile watch.A nice little film. Well worth a look. Do stick around to the end of the credits for an extra scene after. Which is really worth watching as well. This never became a franchise alas, even though the end leaves room for more. But there is a tv cartoon show which will show you more of these characters if you want. The disc begins with various trailers and ads, which can be skipped via the next button on the dvd remote. They mostly all appear again in the sneak peeks section of the disc anyhow.Language and subtitle options:Languages: English. Italian.Subtitles: English. Italian. It's also English audio captioned. There is another language on here for both the above which I think is Arabic, but since the copy of the dvd I got was disc only in a sleeve I don't have the box thus can't be sure. So don't quote me on it.The only extra is a short cartoon called feast, which a touching little tale about the relationship between humans and dogs, and is well worth a watch.

I am happy with my care!
Can honestly say I found this to be one of the best modern Disney films. This is about the special bond that develops between Baymax, a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada. When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called "Big Hero 6." This film does a brilliant job like only Disney can of making you feel emotion towards the robot Baymax. The story is great and keeps your full intention for the whole film. Story wise and visually this feels a bit different from Disney films previously but that is a good thing. All I can say is if you are after a good family film then look no further than this.

bench-mark for the new Disney
a really nice break from recent Princess mania, following in the vein of 'Chicken Little' and 'Wreck It Ralph' and surpassing them. a modern look and some modern themes but still has that enchanting Disney quality. some very clever animation, a really good sound track and at least one character for everyone. the plot develops nicely through the film without giving away too much keeping anything back for no obvious reason other than to far-too-obviously generate suspense. decent back-story for the bad guy. also the plot is not the same as the comics, which some fans will appreciate and will irritate others. Blu-ray quality is everything you would and ought to expect and the 3D adds to the visuals without dominating the screen and overwhelming everything else in the scene. extras inc a really good short 'feast' and some incomplete deleted scenes ( as is the norm with animated films ) plus the usual commentaries, making of and featurettes

Big Hero, Big Film
Big Hero 6 is an uplifting change to Pixar's usual type of films.Based on the japanese Marvel comics of the same name, Big Hero 6 follows protagonist Hiro (Yes, that is his name) Hamada and his meeting with Baymax, a robot designed by his brother Tadashi.Without revealing spoilers, Hiro meets other superheros Wasabi (an OCD type of superhero), Honey Lemon (the girly girl superhero), GoGo (the un-girly girl superhero) and Fred (the guy who wants to be a hero without any powers or skills). This film is a real gem and provides fantastic graphics and colours to an otherwise typical superhero story. It is a must watch for children and adults of all ages.

Great Movie
A great Disney movie, it will match the classics from the early years. This stands up in its own right as a great movie. My boys and I have watched so many times, it guarantees entertainment value even though we have seen it so many times. Hopefully Disney are back at their best. Thanks Disney
