Get one. You'll be so glad you did.
I was able to teach myself to use this simple kit very easily. I saved my back and groin and was able to place full sheets of plywood on the two-story playhouse I built without anyone else's help. Also, the hoisting and quick-lock abilities of this set-up mean you move heavy stuff safely and keep it in pretty much full control. this little kit got me going and now that I understand how it all works I know I'll now go on to more serious block and tackle set-ups. If you've never discovered what this sort of gear can do to lighten your workload and give you more safety you have a really pleasant surprise in store for you. Get one. You'll be more than glad you did.

Well worth the price of admission. The capacity is ...
Well worth the price of admission. The capacity is about 300 pounds or so, which is enough for the two jobs I had in mind. I needed this to support the weight of a component I was removing from my tractor; that was about 200 pounds, and even my daughter could raise/lower it. Once that was done, I'm using this to raise/lower my kayak from its storage bay. This thing is small and lightweight, but the ropes and pulleys do their jobs.

Save time and energy
Used to lift heavy bag at our gym when we don't use it.Also helped bringing our MMA Cage to the second floor without needing a lot of people.Amazing stuff, totally worth the price.PS : Make sure you wear gloves when lifting heavy or the rope might leave with some part of your skin.

Very adequate for job
I wanted something that I could use for hoisting water bottles easily. Tie Boss is the best because of the the automatic hold feature. No tie down necessary. You can easily add another pulley for a 4 to 1 mechanical advantage.

It's ok
It's kind of hard to pull the rope through the tie boss, and it's really hard to thread the longer rope through it.

Blue Block and Tackle Tie Boss
When lowering it without a weight, the rope tends to come off the wheel. Same goes for raising it. Otherwise it's ok.
