Benchmade - Nimravus 140 Knife, Drop-Point Blade, Plain Edge, Coated Finish, Sand Handle

I was looking for a fixed blade knife that was a little larger than my Benchmade Barrage folder with a good, US made steel and this knife fits the bill perfectly. The 4.5" partially serrated, drop point blade made from 154CM steel should handle just about everything I can throw at it - I can't wait to work with it in the field. It's a bit small and light for a camp type "chopper" but could probably handle some of that duty in addition to being a great cutter and slicer. It is lightweight but you can still feel it in your hand and it is small enough to have on your waist or connected to a thigh-rig, backpack, etc.... I like the durability of the aluminum scales, they can be a little cold on first grab but warm up quickly. The milled grip serrations on the scales work great. I ordered the Kydex sheath separately and like the sheath but find the release a little tight. That will hopefully improve with use. Amazon packaging and shipping was first rate, as usual.

What do you buy for a young man who just graduated and is heading to Boot Camp in 6 weeks? Well, cash is the answer, but if you want to give him something he can open and will cherish for years, get him a Benchmade. This knife was razor sharp, well balanced and had a great hand feel. The scabbard is perfect for active duty and will keep the blade secure and clean. This is the third Benchmade I have purchased and I am thinking about buying one for myself for hunting. Order without concern. This knife will be around a lot longer than the pile of cash that he was given at graduation. I feel confident it will be a good tool and keep him safe in his upcoming role in the US Army.

I love this knife and I can see why it is so popular and rates so highly! The beauty of this knife is its functionality in so many ways. I was a bit concerned about its size, probably one of the smaller fixed blade knifes I have but this is actually its strength. Being a smaller blade I take it everywhere I go so this knife gets the most use. Also, being smaller it opens its options to doing many other jobs rather than battening firewood. The knife is of the highest quality and is evident when first taken out of its box. It really is a well made and well thought out knife and became my everyday carry because its so usable. This is the Mercedes of knives, I would not buy this knife as a heavy utility knife, get a Ontario RAT for that type of exercise. Rather get this knife for EDC and doing jobs that dont require prying or cutting firewood although it can do these jobs per many youtube videos. I could go on for another 300 words but ill sum up by saying just buy it, it needs to be in your collection for so many reasons. You won't regret it and it will become your favourite knife.

Bought this knife a few days ago as 42nd birthday present to myself. Stepped up and paid the $241.50 since it was unavailable through the Benchmade site. Straight edge version. Shipped fast. Exactly what I wanted. Razor sharp out of the box. Heirloom knife. My first son is due this September. I plan on passing it down to him. Already contacted Benchmade and inquired about engraving. Was told I can send it in anytime and they will engrave it for me. “Keening”. That’s the name of my knife.

I had an original Allen Elishewitz Benchmade Nimravus with the micarta handles, and I loved it- except for the partially serrated blade (I'm just not a big fan of serrations). I found the plain edged version on Amazon and jumped at it. It's still a great knife, and I like the new MOLLE sheath, but I prefer the micarta handles over the new aluminum ones. My only real gripe is with the finger groove behind the ricasso is noticibly deeper than on the original, and makes for a weaker feel. That, and the handles aren't interchangeable because of the difference. Otherwise, it's another fine Benchmade product, razor sharp right out of the box. Would actually rate 4.5 stars, as the only issues I have are personal preferences.

I carry a fixed blade for my everyday carry knife (EDC) and the Benchmade Nimravus is great. It is made in the USA of high-end steel. It arrived sharp and in perfect condition. The sheath fits it perfectly and can be worn several ways. The design and balance of the knife is outstanding. It is guaranteed for life by Benchmade. If you want the best quality and a lifetime knife, get a Benchmade.

I bought this exact knife back in 2006. It has been put through hell and back. I have used it to pry, hammer, cut, slice, dice, open everything. I couldn't be happier with this knife. Now Its on is second Deployment and my guys think its the "sickest" knife. 5 of them have now bought the knife for themselves. It sharpens amazing, holds and edge and is virtually indestructible. I recommend this knife to anybody that is an outdoors person, police, military especially. Thank you benchmade for creating this knife and thank you Amazon for helping me find it cheaper.

As a soldier (US Army) I can say that this is excellent kit. You (or your significant other) will not be disappointed nor suffer buyers remorse. Yes, it is not cheap, but you will never be able to hurt it and it will never fail you. Full length, tang. Worlds best hard use knife steel. TOUGH aluminum scales in Coyote Tan. Das Messer ist sehr stabil und hält was es verspricht ist optisch top und liegt gut in der Hand. Das einzige Manko ist die Hülle/ Scheide die ist einfach nur billig aber dafür ist es preislich angeglichen. ;)

What a tactical knief. Extremely sharp, blade thickness could be thicker but overall well balanced and look light weight. Excellent handle grips and again very sharp knife. Holds an edge well. MADE in the USA is a bonus!! and out standing quality. As a tactical blade I would highly recommend and the nylon sheath is well made with many latching possibilities.
