Listen is the band's first album in three years. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and London, and produced by Inflo.'With this record we didn't do any rehearsing beforehand. I'd write a song with Inflo or on my own, put it up and we'd all play over it. There was a real freedom to the process,' said the band's frontman Luke Pritchard. 'To me this album is about pure expression. Even the way we made the album felt fresh. Rather than us just being a band in a room, playing our guitars with the vocal over the top, which is what we'd always done before, we were really listening to what was going on around us, picking up ideas. The whole thing was much more natural.'

Nearly as good as their previous releases
Nearly as good as their previous releases! A really good indie band, but it sounded a lot like similar other bands' material! Thanx!

It's super cheap, just go ahead and buy it
Listening to the Arctic Monkeys brought me to The Kooks. I in no way regret buying the album but my favorite song for sure is Bad Habits (though I will admit this is probably to be their most commercially accepted hit). I have not listened to any of their other albums so I'm not sure what this sounds like comparatively. It's a little to "folksy" for me. I say that with a bit of trepidation because they aren't necessarily what I would consider to be a folksy band but nonetheless that the word I'm going with.

Love Bad Habit, not the rest
I hate it when I just can't get on board with an album, and admittedly this was the first of theirs that I had bought. In my opinion though, music is far too personal to give an authentic review of, so take this with a grain of salt and form your own opinion. I will say that the majority of songs don't sound like the current single 'Bad Habit' so I feel a little bait and switch was had here.

Not as good
On first hearing, I quite liked this album although I have to say after plenty of listens to it now, it's nowhere near as good as their older stuff. I like how The Kooks are now experimenting trying different instruments, but I find most of the songs on this quite average. See Me Now, Around Town and Bad Habit are decent, but that's about it really. Having said this, I saw them live at Leeds Fest 2014, and they are really good live, lots of energy and the atmosphere was electric.

Great change of style
4th Studio Album from my personal favourite band. A much different style here with much more percussion to show off new drummer Alexis a bit. In my opinion this album is just as excellent as all the others, and in some ways more so. Personal favourites are Forgive & Forget, See Me Now and Down.
