TANGRAM Smart Jump Rope Rookie

The product did not come with batteries, even though it says on the package batteries included. And they are the circle batteries which are not the easiest to find in stores. Can’t use it until I get them which is annoying.

Before purchasing the Rookie model from Tangram, I tried to find some detailed reviews on the web, including YouTube. Perhaps because this is a newer model, there were none.There were however, a lot of reviews available on the original Tangram rope which retails close to $90 and features a fancy LED feature in the rope to beam your skip count out in front of you. The reviews I read on this model mentioned concerns about the weight and hesitation to use it outside because of the electronics in the rope.This "Rookie" model features none of that fancy stuff so the rope is just as light as a standard jump rope. All the electronics are in the left handle and you won't even notice it.Setup was pretty easy, but I did need to read the manual to figure out how to get going. The right handle features battery storage and you will need to open it to grab the included battery before transferring it to the left handle where the actual electronics are located. The battery is a C2032 flat battery which will apparently last for months. This also is unlike the fancier legacy model, which features a rechargeable battery via USB. That likely needs a lot more charging due to the LED beaming ability.Once the battery is in you'll just need to insert the rope into the handles. This was very easy after reading the instructions in the manual. All that's left then is to set up the app, which only takes seconds. You can also set up Apple Health integration to log your workouts and grab your weight and heart rate.Performing the actual workout is easy. You really don't need the fancy beaming ability of the original model as it's easy to either set up your iPhone in front of you or occasionally check your Apple Watch for your skip count and time. There's also a sound feature to notify you at skip intervals of your choosing. (I assume this works just as well on Android devices).One annoying feature is that the count will reset after about ten seconds of inactivity and also then send data as a workout to Apple Health (or presumably the Android equivalent). Thus you could end up with a dozen "workouts" in a 30 minute session. The app itself will show you the total count when you're done, but it's not fun from a data management perspective. Since "skip count" isn't an Apple Health value anyway, I figure I can just use my Apple Watch to log the workout and use skip count within the Smart Rope app for reference separately. That way I will get my workout as one chunk and will still have heart rate and calorie data. At the end of your workout you can create some nice data images to share on social media and such. This will use your total.Other than standard skip tracking the app also has a few additional features. Workout-wise there's an interval tracker which will let you pick from intervals with rest at various skill levels. The interval program does not have the annoying 10-second workout end time, so this is more enjoyable to use if you're going to use Apple Heath or the Android equivalent. Additionally there's a competition mode so you can compete against friends in the somewhat unlikely event you have one with the rope as well.For data there's a simple global leaderboard to compare yourself against other users as well as a personal log with some basic graphs.At a sub-$40 price tag and with no more bulkiness than a standard rope, this is a good edition to your home fitness equipment with the added benefit of some fun data to keep you motivated. It also appears to be the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys fitness.

Buyers beware.. big smart rope fan here from version one but this one hit a snag. My mom's jump rope stop connecting and died a month after buying. She was able to return to Apple for a new one.Suddenly a week later mines have also died after less than 6 months. No longer being detected by the app and I have tried everything. Going to write them to see what can be done but something is wrong.

Good concept, poorly executed product. Have problem syncing with app. Tried everything. Customer service was slow to response. Didn't resolve anything. Ended up getting a refund.

I bought this smart jump rope for my wife as a gift, very impressed with the quality, and how light it is. I saw a previous review that saying there was no battery included, just make sure you check both handles. There is one active handle for counting and Bluetooth connection, and one handle only be used as backup battery storage. Love this product so far, and we will see how long it last.

The only thing id change about this product is that it syncs every start and stop (in freestyle jump roping) as a separate workout in the health app. I need to figure out how to start a workout in the jumprope app and set a time goal where it will only sync once.. after the workout time expires, etc

I wanted to get something to do some workouts at home since gyms are all closed right now. This is easy to use and connect to the app. I like the app because it monitors how many jumps, how long you jumped for, and lets you set goals for yourself similar to how your apple watch or similar device has step goals. If you had other friends that have this product you could even compete with them using the app. The "rope" part is adjustable which is good because I am only 4'11 so the rope was superrr long when I got it. I think this is perfect for some simple at home work outs.

I didnt jump rope before this (except maybe as a kid). Ive only used the product 2 days now but I am very happy with it. The device and the iphone app works well. In fact, the app is much better than most low cost, low volume electronics. The only thing missing in the software is some way to export to Garmin, TrainingPeaks, etc.The rope (I think it is PVC) is good quality but I need to de-kink it (I read you can boil it then lay it out).

Easy to use product that connects well to my phone. A couple of observations though. When the rope is first taken out of the packet, it will need straightening out as there are lots of folds in it. Secondly, strange design to move the coin type battery from one handle to the other then move it back when finished. Why not just have an on/off switch that prevents the battery running down.

Only one battery was included. A second one was not included and so could not use it. Annoying. Batteries for this aren’t easy to find. Because no battery couldn’t connect to app so unable to test if it works.

The concept is great but the rope itself is like a nasty washing line and twists all over the place. A leather skipping rope is much better. App works well . I got bored of it eventually.

The product arrived promptly and looked the part but unfortunately the IOS app did not work on any of my Apple products therefore making this just a very expensive skipping rope. I’m sure if the App works it’s a great product.

La comba es cómoda de usar, muy bonita y muy ligera; la app la actualizan bastante y tiene integración con healthkit de Apple, añadiendo automáticamente los entrenos. Desde la app puedes añadir entrenos predefinidos según tu nivel, marcando los descansos entre serie y serie. Es una app simple pero que cumple.Cosas a mejorar:- Es demasiado sensible, cuando estás descansando entre serie y serie y mueves un poco la comba ya empieza de nuevo a contar los saltos sin que hayas descansado.- Tienes que tener la app abierta en los entrenos predefinidos, es útil ya que ves lo que te queda de descanso y cuántos saltos de la serie llevas pero por otro lado si no la tienes abierta no recibes las alarmas de fin de serie o de fin de descanso.La comba trae una pila incluida, pero necesitas otra más a mayores, de tipo CR2032, para el otro mando.

Il prodotto si presenta in una scatola in stile apple.L'applicazione a cui abbinarlo è stata rinnovata ed ora si chiama Smartrope.Istruzioni semplici e se si hanno difficolta ad abbinare il prodotto è solo perché la batteria in dotazione è scarica (infatti si sentirà un "bip" continuo).La corda si setta facilmente alla giusta lunghezza anche senza tagliarla. Non è per professionisti del jump rope in quanto tende ad essere meno veloce di una da Crossfit ma la parte smart compensa.

L’application est sans intérêt, mal étudiée . Le nombre de sauts n’est pas toujours juste.Une corde à prix chère étant donné son application. Ne mérite pas un tel prix si l’application n’est pas largement perfectionnée. J’attends un retour du fabricant pour savoir si celle ci sera mis à jour très prochainement sinon je renverrai cette corde.
