**Q: Of the two terminals, which one is hot and which one is load?**
A: It can be either or.  Usually, top is supply, bottom is load.

**Q: Do the contacts close on temp drop? I need freeze protection with a 35deg close and 45 open.**
A: not this control you will need to get a control that has both normal open and normal close    ( three  terminals )  not this one it only has two and it is make on rise.

**Q: Compressor kicks on at 0 temperature?**
A: Yes, the 1609-101 is capable of doing that

**Q: Can this be hooked up to 220V Walk in cooler?**
A: This unit only has a single pole, for 220 volt you should really use a double pole or a relay, so that you don't have a hot 110 volt going to the machine whether it's running or not. 220 volt uses 2-110 volt circuits. Good Luck.
