Animal Nature the Art of Joe Weatherly Volume 2

Great book, very nicely laid out as well.Wish there were more full color paintings and less sketches. Having this said it's a beautiful collection of the master's work.

As with 'Animal Essence', Joe Weatherly's second showcase of his art and techniques is a beautiful and generous book, both sharing the process and the final paintings.

The art is simply beautiful, and pulses with life. Clearly one of the best animal artists of all time, very inspirational work.

This book captures the energy, movement, and character of many different animals. However there is a great exploration of the big game cats, with content of paint and sketch of fixed, elephants, girrafe, and wolves, etc. The book is not a "how-to" but rather a collection of works and discussions and approaches to the artist's way of rendering out his work while including information in the behavior of animals that make his work so captivating. This volume is 68 pages and not as big as his 168 page "Animal Essence" book but it is rich and full of quality full color painting images. It's like having a museum of animal paintings in a book!

Well, well, well Mr Weatherly has done it yet again.If youre not familiar with Joe's drawing book "The Weatherly Guide to Drawing Animals" you should be because there are over 10,000 copies in circulation. There is a reason for that. He is the best contemporary animal draftsman around. And not only is there a thorough knowledge of anatomy, structure, and movement in his work(Joe is a former animator) but there is a master accomplishment of light and color in his paintings. Yes, you heard me right. He paints too and does so with such convincing strokes that the animals feel like they are actually running, standing and posing right in front of you. This book is a top shelf collection of his work and not only is it beautifully printed and of the highest quality but Joe took quite a bit of time sharing his approaches and thought processes. That right there makes this book pure gold. I have never been so impressed with another artists work as I am with the paintings in this publication. Animal Essence is Joe's first collection of his paintings and this new title just proves once again that he is by far a top wildlife fine artist and inspires so many who desire to achieve such greatness.
