Planning your trip to Scotland...
Scotland is a wonderful destination, with much to offer in the way of scenery, outdoor recreation, history, and culture. This new Rough Guide has lots of facts, and lots of opinions, on where to go and what to do. If the enterprising traveler is only packing one guide, this reviewer recommends The Rough Guide to Scotland. This 2020 edition covers the most popular tourist attractions, but it also suggests places off the beaten tourist path, such as remote glens, small museums, and fascinating villages. The practical stuff is upfront, with quick recommendations on when and where to go and what to see, followed by additional practicalities on getting around, where to stay, and so forth. Following chapters cover Scotland by geographic area. The entries are concise and well-organized. The commentary recognizes that tourist infrastructure and access may be limited at certain times of the year, especially outside Glasgow and Edinburgh, due to crowds and/or weather. For best results, plan ahead. Highly recommended.

Plan your trip to Scotland
One of my references for planning a trip to Scotland. I have this on a Kindke, but I really like a hard copy for quicker reference. A well organized book.

The Rough Guide to Scotland
So far, so good. I've always enjoyed travel books but seeing in the next year or so we'll be staying closer to home, they've become more of interest. I've never been to Scotland even though its just a hop, skip and a jump away. I can't comment on the content as I haven't travelled to see how accurate it is.I've enjoyed The Rough Guide books before and this looks to be on par with others.I'll let you know how I get on when restrictions are lifted for travel.

Excellent addition to the Rough Guide series
Used this extensively during a recent trip to Scotland. Excellent maps and ideas of attractions to visit. I really liked the eguide so that this could be used on the smartphone as well as the printed copy.Highly recommended.

Nothing new
As a visitor from England, the book introduced very little that wasn't already known/obvious. Hoped it might have a great deal more information. Perhaps aimed at non Brits.
