The only downside of this book, it should have been longer than 280 pages.
Got this book the other day and it was so good, it took me a day and a half to read from beginning to end. When reading you just feel like you are there with Richard Proyer, you feel like you are in the 70s, 80s. This book outlines his genius and all his flaws. He was not a great husband or father, to be honest he was lousy and very really into himself and drugs. If Richard Proyer was a normal person in the community we would of just called him a junkie. (he was a junkie according to Redd Fox)On the flip side he was a comedic genius being very perceptive to everyday issues , the environment and his life and turned them into the most hilarious comedy. The only downside of this book, it should have been longer than 280 pages.

Proper rock n roll
A victim and a perpetrator: Honest, antagonistic, painful but mostly hilarious.

This Book Should Have Been Called LAUGHTER AND TEARS
First of all I have to say that I've never been a massive Pryor fan. I enjoyed his movies whilst I was growing up... particularly his collaborative efforts with the also late, great Gene Wilder.I've watched some of his stand up comedy which is rather groundbreaking and hilarious...even to this day. This book.... I found it hard to put down. It's written very well and I could almost hear his voice whilst reading his words. It took me through his childhood to his battle with multiple sclerosis and all the good and bad times in between. It can be harrowing but seemingly honest reading and I was left with the impression that, even though he'd been through SO much in his 65 years on earth, he was a firm believer in fate and still had faith in God.His story is told in his own inimitable style so expect a lot of curse words etc.Pryor was a man that REALLY wanted to be loved by the world for his sheer honesty and outrightness. He also vied for the love of women... SEVERAL women to help ease his insecurity. Why only 4 stars? Well...I'd have liked to have heard more about his movies with Gene Wilder as their partnership onscreen was just magic. Also... I'd liked the book to have been a little longer than the 270 or so pages that it has.HIGHLY recommended.

Pryor Commits. (One of few celebrities I would have loved a autobiographical series from.)
Sometimes the brightest stars have in turn the darkest shade, l think Rich is the greatest Comedian as I believe he had an honesty at times on stage rarely produced by anyone else. But due to the Times back then, (No Internet, camera phones, or social media) We never really saw behind the show into the interesting real life journey or side actions that were part of his life,Pryor Convictions tells his story and all the little things that make up who they are. This book also explains how Ironically Some of the wrongs he committed, Actually helped him be so good on Stage. It tells us some indiscretions we would never of heard otherwise. Some boring Celebrities Unnecessarily spin their autobiographies out into a series of books that are slow and dull. However Rich is One of few celebrities I feel I could have easily read a whole autobiographical series from.Pryor Convictions was great, and left me wanting to hear even more from Rich (which is the best "criticism" something can receive)
