Simple and Effective
My son is almost 5 and it's been very frustrating trying to potty train him. Regular books just didn't address many of the issues we had. Like how to deal with a kid who has a love/hate relationship with the "blow dryers" in public restrooms, or constantly flushes the toilet. He can go #1, but I have to supervise him or he will tear the bathroom up. I already had some pecs in use but wasn't using them as well as I could have. I like all the case studies, it kept my attention span. In 2 days I have seen so much progress and have hope that the process can be completed. It has large font and lots of white space, it could be made smaller. So worth the money. I read the whole thing in around an hour and was so excited. I have tried so many things that didn't work and now I have better strategies. Thank god someone wrote a book that we really need.

Potty Talk
It was nicely written, somewhat helpful and has a good layout but there wasn't anything in there that was the "light bulb" idea I was hoping for. Truth is, it just takes time. It's exhausting, extensive, AND expensive, but sometimes a kid just ain't ready and so you just have to wait a little bit longer and then try, try again...We've tried so many things: we built a wide step-up platform so our son would have more independence and less trouble with balance, and that works well for peeing. If we tell him potty time and he has to go he will step-up and go through the motions (assisted - he's almost 4) so he is on his way but he has that dreaded "play with poop" issues and this book, while covering the topic better than most others, cannot offer much for help there because it is something he will just simply have to outgrow. (Recommend wearing large size onesies backwards with pants or shorts or even overalls if you're really desperate so you can get in there to check but your child cannot. A company called Essential Whites carries the larger sizes up to 5T and they are truly the softest onesies I have ever bought). DON'T GIVE UP ON POTTY TRAINING THOUGH! I recommend the onesies when you need to take a break for a few weeks. Others might not agree. That's okay! Do what seems to work best for your child!

For those early on in potty training...
I wish I hadn't spent my money on this book. If you are the parent of an older child with autism (over 5), hoping that this book will give new strategies & enlightenment, you probably won't find it here. You have probably already been through years of potty training, read everything you could find, and enlisted the help of therapists and teachers. You already know what's in this book and the unique issues that our kids have with potty training. You probably have the picture schedules, social stories, incentive plans, and a working knowledge of ABA & PECS & SPD and their relevance to working with your child on potty training. If you are still early in the potty training experience--perhaps just a year or two in and still looking for possibilities, this book does overview the basic kinds of potty training and multiple strategies to support them, according to methods that most often work for our children. Unfortunately, during a desperate weekend of accidents with my near-7-year-old I saw this book and hoped for a miracle answer. My bet is that at least a few of you reading this are in a similar state. This book is not the miracle solution you're looking for. I think patience and persistence in the potty routine is our best bet, and one day it most likely will happen for our older kids too!

Toilet Training Without Toil.
I gave this book to a mother of an Autistic child who needed ideas on the subject. She said the book was innovating with tips she never thought of. Very few books of this quality are available. Great reading. Get educated.

Finally a book on potty training for the child with autism and sensory issues!
This book is fabulous and I finally have hope! By the second page, it was as if a light came down from heaven and choir of angels began singing heavenly harmonies! Wow, realistic potty training advice for a child with autism and sensory issues. I've read a few potty training books and knew they would not help me with my more challenging situation with my 5 y/o son. Other methods work on rewards, but what if rewards don't motivate your child? What if you can't get your child to sit on the toilet? What if you can't even get the diaper off your child let alone put underwear on them because of their sensory issues?I don't want to isolate my child on the toilet, force him to sit on the toilet or endure his screaming because it is overwhelming for him sensory-wise. Potty training shouldn't be traumatic and the book was able to illustrate a more caring but matter-of-fact way to respect a child's sensory problems AND desensitize triggers that can really upset them. Plus, it helped me to understand why my son behaved the way he did and how we could actually teach him to use the toilet even if he didn't have self-awareness for his bodily issues. All of the questions I had were answered in this book and the only that would be better is if I could have the author come in my home and help us! I highly recommend this book.

Its everything you need when you're about to give up!
This book was everything I have been looking for and then some! If you're about to pull your hair out in frustration or feel so hopeless that nothing will work or make you feel like you aren't a good parent - this is the book for you. It took the shame and frustration out of the process for me trying to teach my almost 8 year old ASD son how to use the potty. He's been peeing and pooping on the toilet by himself the last 8 days. I got this book several days before that. Read it, feel better about your situation and get some sanity back in your life - this can work and it really is an amazing book especially to make an overstressed single mom feel hopeful.

Really basic book. It is ok if you don't have much knowledge but didn't really go in depth . Could have been better
